I know you guys talk about losing to a "bad" Hofstra team, but the Richmond loss was a game where we just kept putting the ball on the floor and everything snowballed. Now i'm not saying we're a good team, because we still have work to do, but we should have beaten Western Michigan last week as well. It's not that we don't have talent, we don't have coaches that know how to use it. Today the coaches showed glimpses.

Bottom line, we have some athletes and yes it was an upset, but it's not like you got beat by a dIII non scholly team. In this conference, you can't take anyone lightly. Now hopefully we don't $hit the bed against Maine next week!

No doubt, never said you were bad... surprised? Yes. Your D was stifling and our DB's/front line couldn't stop you. I don't think the score reflects how bad you guys dominated us this game. JMU is lucky they didn't get more points hung on them.

I guess more of a surprise yes, but i thought i read a few posts that classified us as "bad". In this league, it seems like any team can sneak up on you. We just need to keep this going and get another W against Maine.

Going back through the thread, I don't see anyone calling Hofstra "bad". Are you sure you didn't see that on the Zone or the Net because I know one of our posters there trashed the Pride all week. If anything, I think my fellow DJ and I gave Hofstra the respect it deserved for knocking off a Top 10 team. In retrospect, can you say we were overrated? Probably, but given our success the last few years we go into every game we play thinking we can win.

Any slight/condescension you may have taken as directed at the Pride is simple frustration. It was easy to look past Hofstra before the game with Richmond and Villanova coming up. But your defense was excellent, and the offense moved the ball against very well. And please, knock off Maine, UNH, and UMass for us :thumb:

Tough loss for JMU. Hofstra is not the "cupcake" that some people suggested they were. JMU can only afford 1 more loss if they expect to make the playoffs. If they lose 2 more they will finish 7-4, that may not be good enough. They can do it, but it will be tough given their remaining schedule.

There were posters on this site (not necessarily on this thread, and not necessarily JMU posters) that refered to Hofstra as a "cupcake" earlier this week. They are a decent team, and I think they snuck up on JMU today.

I think it was a culmination of posts from the various sites. I'm just transitioning a bit more to this site with my thoughts so i lumped a lot of it together.

As for the Dutch, I'm not sure what to think about this Hofstra team. We can play a little defense when the offense isn't putting us in holes. I just fear our offense going back into a shell and doing the same old same old that leaves me scratching my head after games. Still a lot of work to do, still not using all of our players the way we should IMO, but seeing the TE play a huge roll and catching two TD's yesterday was awesome. It was like the OC all of a sudden lost his tunnel vision. Hopefully they are equally prepared for Maine because we still have a lot of work to do.

Good game Hofstra---at least it's in-conference.

Uncle Buck - you have a chance to throw the "CAA South" stuff at us here, go for it :?

Regarding the scotch and pizza incident yesterday, here's WRHUsports 88.7's explanation from the Zone:
We would like to apologize for any inappropriate comments made by any members of our department.

Any of the comments referenced were not intended for air -- neither on the Radio broadcast, nor on the Webstream.

But that mere fact does not excuse the grossly inappropriate comments made by members of our staff.

If any members of the listening audience were offended, we are truly very sorry for that.

There was a mix-up in the wiring, and elements of the broadcast that you heard were not intended for air. But again, it does not excuse the inappropriate commentary that took place during breaks.

We are very sorry, and it is a mix-up that will not occur in the future.

Thank you for your understanding, and good luck with the rest of your season.

Sincerely,

Mike Leslie

Sometimes if your close enough to the stadium at the tailgate, you can pick up the raw feed of the pregame show on FM radio which includes the off-air comments when it's normally on commercial. It happened at the App/ECU game. Quite entertaining.

We got the hot feed during the georgia southern vs Albany game on the internet. It wasn't pretty in the first half when Albany was dominating the Hatch Attack offense.

Forget it, we can't take anything for granted in this conference. North or South, we just need to win games to get this team back to respectable. Besides, much like the UR game for us, JMU made a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes that we were able to use to our advantage. Sometimes games like this happen, i'm just glad that we got the win. I won't lie, i went into this game expecting 2-3 for us, i'm just thrilled that hope is alive for another week.

Oh, and i'm not sure if the guy who chastises people on the AGS board for saying "we" about the team is on here as well, but as a former player, i still feel like part of the program.

For the 1st half. The JMU offense was sucked almost the whole game. The defense sucked for the 1st half (gave up 3 TDs). But the 2nd half the JMU defense stopped HU fine- held HU to only a FG, and that was after the horrendous Dudzik INT returned to the JMU 20. HU: 213 offense the 1st half, 74 in the 2nd.

It's ok man, Mike Golic gave all non-athletes the OK to say "we" about their colleges sports teams... so since you even played, I'm sure you're gold. :thumb:

Yeah, I'm lumping in the TD from after the rain delay... but not forgetting the two 4th down conversions Hofstra made on an almost 8 minute drive in the 4th quarter.

Agreed. Especially if you stroke a check, you get the "we" right as a bonus.

UB, I use we every single time. Villanova Football is family, as I am sure Hofstra Football is to you. Granted I played with some some of the guys on the team right now, but I don't think my mentality will change as I get older and don't know who they are anymore.

And my wife too says I need to stop living in the past.
