I actually don't think either will, unless App State pulls their head out of their collective ass (especially the D)
Ok, if App finishes in top 10... and NAU doesn't... you owe me an NAU hat.dbackjon wrote: Sure...

If both finish in top 10 or if both finish out of the top 10... noone owes anything.
Deal?
Our defense looked like crap against McNeese. No doubt. But, they looked a hell of a lot better against Samford. We held them under 100 yards of offense through 3 quarters, held them under 200 yards for the game. Held Payton candidate Chris Evans to 87 yards rushing. Our defense has a shitload of talent. I think McNeese will turn out to be the exception rather than the rule.dbackjon wrote:I actually don't think either will, unless App State pulls their head out of their collective ass (especially the D)
We beat a mediocre team.dbackjon wrote: Of course, you are entirely missing the point, which is at THIS POINT, what has APP shown to deserve #10?
That's the best that Southern Illinois can say (#8)
That's the best that JMU can say (#7)
That's the best that Montana can say (#5)
etc.
The season is young. The deserving teams will have a quality win at the end of the year. The cream will rise to the top.

So, I'll ask my question again since every ASU supporter seems to want to just avoid it...
Given that their records are the same...TODAY...Why does ASU deserve a #10 ranking...TODAY...and NAU doesn't...TODAY...

Re: TSN Top 25 Previews
I'm being dead serious here - ASU deserves it because it's ASU. I'm not saying it's fair, but that is what happens with polls. Historically strong teams tend to get a benefit of the doubt. And since App started the season so high, and have only lost one FCS game (to a team now ranked ahead of them), then they do deserve it. Had NAU started in the top 5 and lost one FCS game by a fairly slim margin, they would likely be in the top 10 as well. It's the nature of a poll. You normally have to do something monumental to move up or down.Col Hogan wrote:So, I'll ask my question again since every ASU supporter seems to want to just avoid it...

Someone finally is honest...and admits these "polls" are nothing more than popularity contests based on last years performance...BeauFoster wrote:I'm being dead serious here - ASU deserves it because it's ASU. In essence, yes. That is the reason that no polls should come out before week 4 or 5.

Just like the BCS poll, we now have the CS poll.

Appalachian State... 11-3 Ranked 3-4 in all polls.
Yup, I overestimated NAU... they were slightly worse than mediocre.
