Great article and the more press the better for FCS conferences.

Defending national champion Richmond is ranked first in the latest coaches' poll with James Madison sixth and New Hampshire seventh. No. 16 Massachusetts gives the CAA six schools in the top 16. Their combined record is 20-2 with the losses coming on the road to FBS teams by a total of seven points.

Just wow.

Just wow.
....and other OOC wins against West Chester, Delaware State, Stonybrook (2), Bryant, VMI (2), Liberty, St. Cloud State, Albany (2), St. Francis (PA), Dartmouth, Fordham, Coastal Carolina, Lehigh, Penn, Central Connecticut State, and Norfolk State. That is QUITE the murderer's row of opponents there.   Not exactly something to brag about (not much different from the BSC's list of Western Oregon, Western State, Central Washington (L) UC Davis, Dixie State, SUU, San Diego, Southern Oregon, Cal Poly (L), and a bunch of FBS losses).

Any CAA homer that looks at that list of wins should be embarrassed to ever question the strength of a BSC team's OOC schedule.

And far be it from me to challenge the stats of a major newspaper like the USA today, but Towson lost to Morgan State on 9/26 by a score of 12-9. Last time I checked Morgan State wasn't an FBS school (although this article was probably written prior to Saturday....I didn't click the link :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: ).

The 20-2 record is for the teams in the top 16 (Richmond, Villanova, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, William & Mary, James Madison). Towson isn't one of the top 16 teams.

Yeah, I got that from wideright's comment. I get it...the CAA wants to pretend the other half of the conference doesn't exist.

Believe me, I understand. We wish sometimes that UNC, Sac State and Idaho State didn't exist (as part of our conference) either. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: ---at least not at their current level of athletic competitiveness.

Not yet. As I've said we are still in negotiations with the big sky to turn them into CAAWest, this way we can add even more cupcakes to our schedule. :thumb:

I know. ISU and UNC ARE cupcakes. Unfortunately for the CAA, only 1/4 of our conference is cupcake, not 1/2. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: Adding the BSC will bring UP the level of competitiveness in the CAA.

Bullshit. Every CAA team plays an FCS school - on the road. That makes up for the West Chesters that appear on some schedules.

Besides, it's the Big Sky in-conference schedule that people are questioning.

I don't think Maine, Delaware and Hofstra can be called cupcakes just yet. They may not be playoff contenders this year, but they are still capable teams. I'd argue that the CAA has the same ratio of cupcakes as the Big Sky - 1/4.

No, its only 1/3 of CAA that is cupcake, 4 of 12 teams, Towson, NE, URI, and Hofstra...

And why isn't Ga State included? If you talk to some of their fans, they expected to be ranked this year, taking the National Championship next year with ease while they await the 2014 deadline until they can appear in the Rose Bowl annually.
