Grade your team
Re: Grade your team
C+, we played well against Hofstra and beat a decent DII Southern Connecticut team.

Totaly they're doing awesome they might be a power house in years to come.∞∞∞ wrote:ODU: A+
They have HEART, and that's enough for a first year team to get an A+ in my book.

Griz B- they did good last week but they need to just find one guy to hold the reins as QB and play like they can.

Re: Grade your team
Hmmm... Harvard gets a C. Kicker was inconsistent (first PAT didn't go through), Winters was a little bit inconsistent, running game OK. Defense, not OK.
All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

B-
Considering who we played. The receivers were off, the D and special teams improved. We get healthy and keep improving it will go up.
Still damn proud of them. They could have rolled over and played dead but were in it for the entire 60 minutes.

D- for the MSU Bobkitties.
They should have scored 7 to 10 more points on Michigan State and should have throttled Dixie.
MSU did not receive a F because they did score 3 on Michigan State and did get the W against Dixie.

Re: Grade your team
I give the Jacks a overall of a A-
Offense=B+ Not finishing well enough on the drives and settling for field goals too much for when we get into the meat of the MVC schedule, need to fix that. Still gaining a lot of yards and putting up points like they should, so I won't complain too much
Defense=A Hard not to give them an A after two games and not having anyone get inside your twenty. Understand of course that one of the teams was Indiana State, but they didn't get past the 40, so I'm feeling really good about this squad. Batten is an absolute monster, watch out MVC
Special Teams=B+ Had a great game against GSU and then throws a crap game out last week by missing two field goals. I'll give the benifit of the doubt and say that it was because they were down cause it was the trees.

F. Yes, we're 2-1, but we have way too much talent to be struggling like we are.

JMU:
A-, a not surprising result against Maryland, but Mickey went actually seemed to care and made the final score very surprising. A multitouchdown victory against VMI, which was expected. 1-1 was expected at this point of the season, and it will be a couple weeks to see how good this team really is.
NAU:
B-, played fairly well against Arizona, but could not hold the ball against SUU, poor tackling, and a nonexistent defense in the second half allowed SUU to get back in the game. If the Jacks can't fix these problems, it could be a long year.

Re: Grade your team
C+/B-
Defense is much improved. The UNC/El Cid score didn't show that much, but they put up a good fight just getting wore down.
Offense is still questionable. Still trying to identify our running game and our #2/#3 WR's. O-line is a little concerning. We haven't been very creative although we have installed an option package that hasn't been used in a live game.
Overall still a lot of unknown's after only playing two games and I doubt our game against PC is going to help answer any questions. Week 5 against App St. may shed some light on the subject.

Satisfactory. Pretty much what I've expected so far out of the season. Close game with Maryland, beat down of VMI, find a starting QB. All three quotas met, so satisfactory. We'll see how they play against Liberty next week followed by the CAA conference schedule.

Did you go to undergrad at JMU and grad at NAU, or vice versa? Just wondering.DukeJack wrote:JMU:

Re: Grade your team
This will be painful and I'll get blasted, but it must be done:
ASU - C
0-2 by a combined 10 points with losses to FBS and a strong McNeese team. We showed some defensive ability against ECU, very little against McNeese, but continue to demonstrate that we're strong offensively even at less than full strength. The Samford game will help define the season, but I think a well placed bye week will help the guys get their heads back on and we'll play closer to what I believe we're capable of. I'm looking only to next week, taking it a game at a time since each game has become monumentally important to any postseason hopes. Armanti and company will come out swinging offensively Saturday, and my hopes are that our defense responded to the McNeese wake up call.

Give us a little credit. The Aggies defense is pretty tough. The offense could not get started but A&T should improve as the season progresses.

I give the defense a B+, the offense a B-, and special teams a C. These grades are measured against potential as much as actual performance.Wildcat Ryan wrote:I'll say B+, 2 great games vs Mtn West opponents, would be an A if Weber would have come out of FT. Collins with a win. Weber beat ISU for the 23rd time in the last 25 games with a 44-17 win, played really well on offense and defense, especially from the 2nd qrt on, but I know this Wildcat football team is better than what they showed last night.
But there is a big difference between potential and performance. If Weber recovers from the severe mistake-itis it has demonstrated in the first three games, they can beat anyone in the country. If they don't settle down, the Wildcats will be lucky to get to the playoffs.

Re: Grade your team
C+
I was thinking this might be a little too strict, but the more I think about it objectively, I think it is pretty accurate.
We are 0-3. However, there is more to it than jsut being 0-3. We should get the benefit of the doubt considering we have played Florida, Wofford, and South Florida.
Florida...the reigning national champions. Enough said!!!
Wofford...a nationally ranked, very tough FCS team in the top tier of one of the best FCS football conferences (the SoCon).
South Florida...a strong FBS team from the Big East conference, a BCS conference.
I gave a C+ because I feel like our performance against could have and should have been mouch better. They run an offense that is polar opposite from ours, in the triple option. It always gives us fits, but we have been playing them for years now. We should be used to it and should have it figured out better by now. South Florida is a very good team, but I feel like we should ahve been able to at least dent the scoreboard with at least 10-13 points.
We have a D-II team this week in North Greenville, our only D-II team. I expect a big score this week with plenty of offense.
Then we have FCS teams the rest of the way. So, the grade cannot be accurate until we see how our team performs against similar-level and conference teams.
I still expect us to compete in the Big South Conference and surprise some people.
