And we should be more concerned about Muslims because Christofascists only want to "acknowledge the Christian heritage of our nation"? That's :dunce:

We are not and we have never been a Christian nation.
We are a nation founded on Western Judeo Christian values.
Christianity culturally and historically important to the founding of this nation. That does not make us a Christian nation.

Just check the The Treaty of Tripoli, negotiated in 1796 during George Washington's presidency, and submitted to the Senate by John Adams in 1797. The Senate ratified it unanimously. Article 11 of the English version says:
As the Government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity of Mussulmen.
We are not and have never been a Christian nation. Anyone that tells you differently is a bald faced liar or is delusional and needs psychiatric help.
Being wrong about a topic is called post partisanism - kalm

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

Only indirectly at best. The founding was most influenced by the ideas of enlightenment thinkers like Lock, Rousseau, and Montesquieu in addition to English common law and the abuses of King Goerge and the East India Tea Company. The Iroquois Confederacy probably had as strong of an influence as hydro-Christian beliefs.

Your lack of intellectual curiosity is astoundingly shallow. This nails our culture and history to damn near perfection. There are many great Christian’s out there. They would all agree with this. None of them follow Trump.

I’ve said JUDEO Christian values. And the previous post I said Western Judeo Christian values.

And lol not indirectly at best. The Declaration of Independence contains four references to a deity in theistic language common to the era:
“Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God,“
“endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,”
“Supreme Judge of the world,”
“protection of Divine Providence.”

While the Constitution is more secular, most Founders were raised Protestant or orthodox Christians. Biblical and Protestant ideas were pervasive in late 18th century culture.
And newsflash. I‘m agnostic. Haven‘t been to a church service in years (trying to remember the last church wedding or funeral I went to.

What were their religious beliefs when they were involved in writing the Constitution or serving as POTUS, in Congress, etc?

Adams, Jefferson, Madison and possibly even Washington were more unitarian/deist than traditional Christian when they were actually founding the country.

The USA is not and never has been q Christian nation. Anyone who argues differently is an unhinged radical extremist attempting to destroy this great nation.

I know exactly what you said.

Christianity is defined by Christ. It’s even in the name!

Yet not a single mention in the constitution of Christ, Jesus, Christianity, etc. Natures God? Ask an animist or pantheist. They’d have a bone to pick with you. The Jefferson Bible is still in publication IIRC. The one where he removed all of the supernatural and miracle claims.

Lastly, the enlightenment was a push back against the Christian Church. It relied on reason and science. While some of the founders were Christian, a few notable ones were not. They also tended to be learned men unlike common folk who were more basic in their understandings of philosophy and religion.

E for effort but I’m sorry, your initial statement is flawed.

Gee I don’t know…maybe it’s because of additional unresolved patriarchal issues? Bodily autonomy and abortion rights come to mind. As does MAGA’s push for trad wives.

Maybe they ultimately desire a better country that provides freedom, fairness, and a supportive community for everyone?

Maybe MAGA political leaders should STFU about voting requirements that force married women to proved proof using their maiden name?

The USA, while not a Christian nation, was founded on Western Judeo Christian values. Anyone who argues differently is an unhinged radical extremist attempting to destroy this great nation. :coffee:
If your position is genuinely that America was influenced by Judeo-Christian culture but was not founded as a Christian nation, then we're largely in agreement.

But that's not the same claim being made by the unhinged, radical, Christo-fascist maQa extremists who insist that the United States is a Christian nation and that Christianity deserves some privileged status in our government and laws. Those Christo-fascists are attempting to destroy this great nation.

And that Heritage quote is doing some impressive semantic gymnastics with “state papers.” If they mean that the Founders didn't write “I am a Deist” into an official government document, well, sure. But if you're claiming there is no primary-source evidence of heterodox (Deistic, Unitarian, etc.) beliefs among the Founders, that's simply false. Their own letters and writings are evidence, and Jefferson and Adams in particular are hardly obscure examples.

In other words, “Christianity influenced the Founding” and “America was founded as a Christian nation” are two very different claims. The first is historically uncontroversial. The second doesn't magically become true because the Declaration mentions a Creator.

Judge strikes down Texas ban on drag shows, tells people offended by them ‘just don’t go’
U.S. District Judge David Hittner, a Reagan appointee, said the measure, known as Texas Senate Bill 12, improperly restricted speech, violating the First Amendment of the Constitution. The ruling prevents state Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is running for the Senate, from enforcing the law and denies his motion for a new trial.

In the ruling, Hittner also had advice for "those who find such activities as described in this case offensive."

"The solution is relatively simple ... just don't go," he wrote.

‘A Bible-sized blind spot’: congressman sounds alarm on rising Christian nationalism
Crosses, shofars and "Appeal to Heaven" flags. Rioters praying with their hands aloft as police officers are brutalised. January 6 2021 is widely remembered as a deadly insurrection by supporters of Donald Trump; but for Congressman Jared Huffman, who was locked down alone in his office that day, something else stands out.

It was a very Christian coup.
...
That is a big part of why Huffman is now deciding to sound an alarm of his own with a new book, No Prophets: The Fight to Save Democracy from Christian Nationalism. Contending that the US has a "Bible-sized blind spot", it argues that the theocratic insurgency has only grown more powerful after Trump's return to power and is now the country's most dangerous political movement – a greater threat to science, education and freedom than most people realise.
...
That Christian privilege was manifested in the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, Huffman argues, when many fellow members of Congress did not even seem to notice the religious elements of the group trying to kill them. It was evident again, he asserts, in one of the most consequential political cover-ups in recent history: the deliberate erasure of Christian nationalism from the final report of the House January 6 select committee.
...
Huffman argues that modern Christian nationalism is not a monolith but a temporary coalition of three distinct, volatile and historically hostile religious subcultures, held together by the glue of Trump.

The biggest and politically most potent is NAR, a decentralised network of self-declared "apostles" and "prophets" who reject traditional denominational authority in favour of direct revelation. NAR prophets such as Paula White-Cain and Lance Wallnau cast Trump as a modern King Cyrus – a flawed, pagan ruler anointed by God to save his chosen people – to provide a divine permission structure for millions of evangelicals to overlook Trump's moral failings.

On the Catholic flank are the "Rad Trads", a small but highly influential subculture that resent the liberalising Vatican II reforms of the 1960s and believes that Catholic moral authority should govern the state. Sympathisers include vice-president JD Vance and political strategist Steve Bannon. Neo-nazi agitator Nick Fuentes openly calls for a "Catholic monarchy" to replace the US constitution.

Perhaps the most sophisticated and economically formidable faction is the "Theobros", a network of Protestant Reconstructionists led by Pastor Doug Wilson of Moscow, Idaho. Wilson advocates for "Mere Christendom", a system where the Apostle's Creed is codified into the US constitution, women and non-Christians are stripped of voting rights. The Theobros have forged a powerful "Theo-tech bromance" with Silicon Valley venture capitalists such as Peter Thiel.
...
Huffman comments: "The nicest thing I can say about Pete Hegseth is to thank him for his lack of subtlety. He is so cartoonish in his Christian nationalism that he provides a great case study.
...
Nowhere is the advance of Christian nationalism more striking than inside the Capitol itself, which Huffman describes as a "shadow theocracy". Visitors on official tours see Statuary Hall and hear speeches on the separation of powers; they do not see the sprawling, tax-subsidised "ministry-industrial complex" operating under the dome.

Pastors lurk like lobbyists in the Capitol hallways.

Sounds like she would have been a good fit for Epstein Island or Zorro Ranch.

And how do we know their feminists. When was that shot? Are they not aloud to smile?
It was in the courtroom for the trial. It might have been before it was gaveled to order. Regardless, I don’t know about you, but if I was in the courtroom for someone who murdered their 8 month old, 3 yr old, and 5 year old, I wouldn’t be supporting them or laughing & smirking it up.

But you celebrate what ICE/CBP are doing while saying nothing about these kinds of stories ...

Immigrant Kids Keep Dying in CBP Detention Centers, and DHS Won’t Take Accountability
In recent months, at least seven children have either died in custody or after being detained by federal immigration agencies at the border. These children came to the United States desperate for shelter and safety, but found inhumanity and suffering, under our government’s care, instead.

Their deaths reveal just how dire the conditions are under which U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are holding hundreds of children. Detention facilities are dangerously overcrowded, where migrants are forced to wear soiled clothes for days at a time. To make matters worse, CBP also appears to be holding children for extended periods of time in direct conflict with the Flores agreement, a set of legal guidelines that provide humane conditions for immigrant children in detention — guidelines the Trump administration is now attempting to dismantle, arguing in court that it doesn’t require CBP to provide basic toiletries to keep children clean.
Family sues US over 8-year-old’s death in custody after crossing the border

This is where you bring up things that happened under Obama/biden to deflect attention and act as if somehow justifies this.
Being wrong about a topic is called post partisanism - kalm

maQa - putting the Q into qrazy qanon qult qonspiracy theories since 2015.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

Thank you for your attention to this matter - UNI88

If I had a time machine, I would put you in that mother’s basement and make you watch her strangle her three kids and then I would take you over to a border patrol holding facility so you could watch how well those kids are treated and after that we would see if you would still ridiculously try to defend and make some type of stupid argument
