You skipped the homeless guy who lit some of the fires. Wasn't climate change at all.
According to the Smithsonian, while 84% of fires are human caused, arson is only 18-21% of that number. Are you suggesting the percentage of wildfires caused by arson has gone up significantly? Or maybe it’s all types that have increased with population?
Is it the total number of fires or is it the severity that’s highlighting it more? Are you asserting that wildfires didn’t exist before humans or colonization? Do you think drought, changing winds speeds and directions, humidity, high temperatures don’t contribute to the severity like we saw in LA or Spokane?

So you’re actually denying that climate change doesn’t increase the chance or severity of fires?SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2026 3:36 pmI'm exerting your story of climate change causing the fires isn't supported by facts, yet again.kalm wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2026 7:30 pm

I grew up in Cheney between the grassland fires of the Columbia Basin and forested foothills of the Rockies. The movie Always was filmed just west of here for fucks sake. My uncle is ground crew for a team of 3 first strike Fire Boss planes out of Deer Park. We never had smoke or the amount of large fires like this 10 years ago.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2026 5:17 pmDid climate change start those fires?

Your anecdotal stories DO NOT support the maQa narrative and can be dismissed out of hand. SG's anecdotal stories DO support the maQa narrative and can be considered fact and take precedence over any scientific studies or reports that do not support the maQa narrative.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

Well he’s right in a way. I’m just Spokane adjacent. I’m all Cheney.
FWIW…if anyone hasn’t watched it, that video of the fire boss planes is cool af. I’ve been all over that area of Lake Spokane. I’m not a plane nerd but watching those things in action dumping and scooping is fascinating.

As I watched, two things popped up in my head.
1. How many manatees were damaged during those operations.
2. Could drones be more effective.

Good call on drones. It would need to massively increase in size and payload.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2026 3:38 pmI watched the video. I saw it and said, "gotta watch".kalm wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2026 1:52 pm

Pretty cool video eh?
My 86 year old uncle is still working ground support for those 3 DNR Fire Bosses stationed in Deer Park. He’s a pilot as well but too old to fly. When he’s not doing that, he long hauls small aircraft and parts to Alaska from Spokane. Yes, he still has his CDL.

Yes it was a cool video. I grew up around all sorts of "equipment" and got to enjoy operating it.kalm wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2026 8:53 amGood call on drones. It would need to massively increase in size and payload.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2026 3:38 pm
