Good answer. Communities are more important than data centers. Citizens United needs to be repealed and sweeping campaign finance reform is a must to avoid the Mike Rogers of the world.

Could also go in the 2026 Judicial Rulings thread.

They haven’t cleared the way. The ruling simply says June was too early for the plaintiffs to file. And there’s still an injunction in place prohibiting the USPS from adopting Trumps orders. Not that this court won’t overturn that as well.

The constitution grants zero authority to the President for election administration. Full stop. Couldn’t SCOTUS have simply refused the case? The fact they haven’t contradicts the constitution and creates the shit show that Trump wants given the narrow window. And Trump will continue to forge ahead regardless. As any loser who’s never learned how to accept defeat does. And the court is obliging him all the way.

Dems should be preparing articles of impeachment for Thomas, Ailito, and Roberts. Roberts because he’s either really dumb or a complete fraud who’s been allowed to ride his smug charm to this point.

MAGA is too stupid to understand any of this of course.

SCOTUS removed one injunction because it found the states' challenge premature, while leaving the substantative legality of Trump's election order unresolved and leaving separate litigation blocking USPS implementation in place.

China is building data centers at a crazy rate.
They are simultaneously funding opposition to data centers in the US. They’re doing the opposite in this country of what they are doing in their own. Why? Because they want to control AI. They want to shut down AI here.

Republican governor asks his AG to look into ‘aggressive’ behavior by Trump admin’s election monitors
"It sounded like the behavior of the observers was a bit aggressive," Gordon said, adding, "It just was irregular and, and I have asked the attorney general to start looking into … the nature of the visits and all that sort of stuff."

1). China can force these things without much legal resistance or protests. Companies and government in the U.S. can’t. That’s a good thing.

2). Every country attempts to manipulate markets and block competition. Including us.

3). Less harmful data center construction, location, and energy and water consumption will happen. It already is. True innovation will include these considerations.

4). Now do Russia and Israel and throw a little Trump into research while you’re at it.

Judge issues new injunction to quickly stop Trump admin from going forward with mail-in voting takeover before midterm elections
"[T]he Constitution charges the States with election administration," the 11-page order reads. "While the States' decisions may be pre-empted by Congress, the court is unaware of, and no party has proffered, any delegation Congress has made that would permit the USPS to regulate election mail."
...
The government admitted to completing rulemaking on Aug. 21. The Supreme Court still credited the notion that the rulemaking process was being held back by the California injunction on Aug. 24.

This did not go unnoticed.

"The Supreme Court accepted the government's feigned compliance," Talwani observed earlier this week in an order finding that the USPS violated the injunction in the League of Women Voters case.
...
On Wednesday, Talwani agreed with the government and dissolved the League's injunction. Minutes later, the League filed a new version of its lawsuit. The states filed another lawsuit altogether.

On Thursday evening, Talwani enjoined the USPS from implementing or enforcing several sections of the rule for at least 14 days.

"Now that the USPS has published the Final Rule, Plaintiffs' challenges are ripe," the judge explained. "The Final Rule's mandatory requirements necessitating immediate action of Plaintiff States likely constitute concrete injury-in-fact, caused by the new regulatory scheme and redressable only by injunctive relief."

The court elaborates on those likely injuries:

[T]he USPS is refusing to send mail ballots to eligible voters unless States or local election officials submit their mail ballot envelopes and return envelopes and receive advance approval from the USPS without regard to impending deadlines for the November 3, 2026 election.

"Most Plaintiff States have already ordered their mail ballots, and some are required by state law to send them to eligible voters as early as next week," the order goes on. "Plaintiff States have neither time nor funds to design new mail ballots, seek approval of the new designs, [and] order production of mail ballots … all before the midterms."
How long before the trump regime runs to mommy SCOTUS and tries to hide behind her skirts?

Whistleblower warns Postal Service's mail ballot portal is "rushed," "untested"
Washington — A whistleblower is warning of "potentially catastrophic problems" with the U.S. Postal Service's new system for handling mail ballots. The whistleblower is accusing the agency of flouting court rulings by continuing to work on implementing a Trump executive order to tighten mail voting rules before the November midterm elections.
...
According to the whistleblower disclosure provided to Blumenthal by lawyers with Whistleblower Aid, the new portal is "untested" and will have "significant operating problems" when released, given its "rushed" development.

The federal official also warned that the new verification process could keep large numbers of mail ballots from being delivered to voters.

For instance, the Postal Service has what the whistleblower claims is a "zero percent failure rate." Mail workers would scan a sample of a batch of mail ballots — about 400 out of a batch of 10,000 or more — to verify it matches what is in the federal mail ballot portal. Under the policy, if even one barcode on a single ballot in the batch doesn't scan properly or the information does not match, the entire batch would be rejected and returned to state election officials so the problem ballot could be addressed, and then the verification process would have to be started again.

The whistleblower's lawyers said that the way the process is designed is "entirely unforgiving."
...
"Our client, a lawful anonymous whistleblower, has come forward to flag a foreseeable catastrophic disruption to our coming nationwide elections based on the reckless pursuit of readying a new, insufficiently tested, poorly planned mail-in ballot screening system," the whistleblower's lawyers wrote.
Anonymous, blah, blah, blah. A source remaining anonymous to protect themselves from retaliation is just as if not more justified then ICE/CBP agents wearing masks to protect their identities.
