We don’t blow up boats off of Miami because they don’t carry large volumes of drugs like these Go fast boats departing Colombia and Venezuela. They shut that down in the 80s and that’s why they moved to the Caribbean and later to the eastern Pacific. They do smuggle illegal immigrants staged in the Bahamas and small amounts of drugs
He is also wrong that these drugs don’t have a pathway into the United States. Of course they do. Thats just silly
Now, if he wants to argue about if this is legal or not, that’s another story …. He should change his approach.
So it was shutdown off Miami following our own and international laws? Do tell.
And what route are the drugs getting here these days?
The big bulk loads were shut down off of Florida because it’s easier to flood the zone so to speak and flooding the area with maritime law-enforcement is much easier to do in your geographical backyard.
The druglords just moved everything south to the Caribbean by the early to mid 80s. If you check a map, you will see how many options this gave the bad guys to avoid law-enforcement. Of course, there’s nowhere near enough Coast Guard assets to effectively patrol the entire Caribbean Sea.
By the mid 90s, the US Coast Guard in conjunction with several other law-enforcement platforms pretty much had to deploy Coast Guard assets from the entire East Coast and temporarily stage them in the Caribbean. It was effective for stopping the flow drugs into the Caribbean for a while, but traffickers just shifted the big loads over into the eastern Pacific. Once the eastern Pacific route was patrolled heavily, they shifted a lot back to the Caribbean again, it is a cat and mouse game.
You can bet your last dollar that somebody is building another huge tunnel from Mexico into Arizona right now as the druggies will always find away! Well until now, when Trump has changed everything.
Container shipping is the primary mode for getting these drugs from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic to the United States and Europe.
They have used American Airlines to ship drugs. There’s always some American Airlines Employee getting arrested in Puerto Rico for putting huge amounts of cocaine onto a plane over several years
They ship smaller amounts via the US Postal Service
If there is a way, they will find it
I like Rand Paul but he needs to study up on this
