I had a discussion with Jerome on X. He believes every child should get the Hep B vaccine at birth, with two additional shots at 1 month and 6 months.
If a woman is pregnant and passes on Hep B, it's not good for the kid. Most people clear the virus, but those infected at birth really struggle to clear. Those kids need a vaccine plus a different immunity boosting shot. Those truly help the kid get on the same track as those uninfected and clear.
The issue is that only .07% of births are to a mom with active Hep B. It's important enough they test every mom.
According to Jerome, if a kid makes it out of the womb without contracting Hep B, they still have to worry about the family needle users and sex workers cross infecting them until they get old enough for positive outcomes (6 yo).
This vaccine never had a proper RCT for it's purpose and uses past versions of the vaccine as the placebo. It also only has an adverse event window of 5 days. Problem after 5 days, ain't the vaccines fault.
This money only affect respiratory illness (Flu/RSV/Covid), something we have never been able to develop a great vaccine, due to how quickly the virus mutates.
