It’s ironic for the country’s top diplomat to complain about the free speech of Americans overseas when Rubio himself is targeting immigrants in the U.S., particularly international students, for exercising their own free speech rights, revoking their visas and trying to deport them.

One such student, Rümeysa Öztürk, was arrested after writing an opinion piece about Israel’s war on Gaza in her school newspaper, and Rubio even seemed to confirm last week that her detention and visa revocation were for that reason. Whatever is behind these new visa rules, it’s highly likely that they’re for something other than free speech because Rubio is clearly a hypocrite.

No offense, but the practice of trying to parse and snip what White House Press Secretaries say while being peppered with questions, and then pushing them out onto social medias to triumph that this is proof of incompetence is not exactly one of the better social trends of the past few decades. When they genuinely make something up and/or lie about something, that's one thing, and that should be castigated. But when they stumble or stutter over something, or in this case, think that there's a position on a topic brought up by a question and they don't actually have it, that's not really worth the pitchforks. And actually, it's like a crying wolf thing - since we do this everyday with every Press Secretary, regardless of party, when they do do something really egregious, no one's paying attention anymore.

And to answer your next nitpick - attempting to prevent the Constitutional transfer of power assassinate the Vice President of the United States, Speaker if the House and other Congress people is a lot closer to attempting to overthrow the duly elected government (i.e. an insurrection) than anything happening in LA right now.
