Please dont twist my words around, im not at all saying that every team should or does that. Yes SUU has been a cupcake program for a while but we are turning it around, and there is a big difference between us scheduling games and one of the powerhouses of the FCS ranks doing it, i personally just think it would benefit your fans and your program more if you played higher tier competition instead of scheduling D2 teams who are cellar dwellers in their division.DuckDuckGriz wrote:Wait now be consistent - so we have to have ALL playup games and no drop-downs? Getting your asses beat at an FBS game has no effect on your play through the rest of the season. Sure didn't stop the Griz last year.. but yet, Appy played up and didn't make the championship. *shrugs* Look at Weber St.. they're likely to start the year 0-2, what are they going to gain from that? Tougher time making the playoffs?

I agree and that is why we schedule one FBS or top 25 FCS every year (btw we're on the road at UC Davis next week) and one D-II dropdown, take the $$ get the players loose etc etc it's not uncommon with any other top 25 FCS.SUUTbird wrote:Please dont twist my words around, im not at all saying that every team should or does that. Only 5 are DII, 3 are College Division, composed of mostly future I-AA and non-BCS FBS Schools. I have no problem with the Griz, check the Griz post on the NDSU/Iowa St thread. Just pass in the shiat around.DuckDuckGriz wrote:Gil Dobie wrote:

Then you tell me where the Griz obsession comes from, and keep polishing those D-II titles from the 1960s.
DII didn't start until the 1970's

I agree Appa, for instance we are playing San Diego State and Utah State this year as we are continuing to try and get better. I cant begin to tell you how cool it would be to see the Griz take on Wyoming, Utah State, Utah, ect. some years. And as to reffer to players getting injured compared to those teams the talent level is pretty equal meaning not as much risk for injuries. You said you could take 2 inches like a champ.
GOKATS, I believe the Iowa score was 24-7 at the start of the 4th quarter. What was the score of that Cats game going into the 4th quarter today? Oh yeah.......

It was 17-7 in the third quarter, which means we scored a TD - with a new QB with a broken hand.MrTitleist wrote:You said you could take 2 inches like a champ.

Re: Montana vs Western State
IF the griz scheduled an FBS team you would understand. Since the Bobcats schedule an FBS team every year, the other two OOC games have to be at home to make the six home game schedule. You're not going to schedule Cal Poly or UCD unless you agree to a home/home which would lead to only five home games one season- the fans are assured of six home games every year so it doesn't work. 2013 and 2014 are both 12 game seasons so I would like to see the Cats schedule a home/home with either of those two teams, NDSU, etc.DuckDuckGriz wrote:And Montana State hasn't scheduled Cal Poly or UC Davis....I wonder whyGOKATS wrote:
