The Davis game may not be too easy. I think Davis lost just once at home last year (I think they won just once away), and they played the Griz tough in Missoula (closer than most teams did last year). The Griz go there after easy pickings against Western State.
uc davis plays Montana after they play Fresno State, I would imagine they will be banged up quite a bit heading into the Montana game. Montana should be able to dominate on the offensive side of the ball. :coffee:

not neccessarily, I dont think UCDavis will beat Montana, but Weber State played at Utah before playing home to Montana last year, and Weber didnt look beat up, just because they play a FBS team, it doesnt mean that they will get really banged up, I think it will be a good game though.

This is true and one of the biggest fallacies that people always say about playing FBS teams. It's silly but it won't go away. I have read a couple of articles (and wish I had them at the ready but I don't) that look at injuries from "smaller" teams vs. playing the bigger teams and there is no more incident of injury. It seems to be one of those silly things that has been said so often now that it becomes fact to people.

Yeah, if your team's players are getting banged up left and right, then they werent doing a good enough job during the offseason of conditioning.

Although averages are misleading, I’ll still list a few:
Average ucd d-lineman weight: 257.6 lbs.
http://www.ucdavisaggies.com/sports/m-f ... l-mtt.html
Average Fresno State o-lineman weight: 298.1 lbs
http://www.gobulldogs.com/sports/m-foot ... l-mtt.html
They also play Boise State. They catch a break here; their average o-lineman weight is only 277.7 lbs.
http://www.broncosports.com/SportSelect ... psid=48552

Compared to Sac State:
Average o-lineman weight: 283.8 lbs
http://www.hornetsports.com/sports/foot ... /index.asp
Sac State doesn’t fare much better as our average d-lineman weight is virtually the same at 258.4 lbs.
Not saying size will be the absolute determining factor here, but it definitely comes into play in the 4th quarter. Especially against a well sized o-line. Last I checked force still equals mass times acceleration. :ugeek:

If you could post an article on the injuries of “smaller” schools vs. bigger schools, I’d definitely be interested in reading it. I wasn’t implying that the smaller linemen would drop like flies, only that they would still be feeling it the following week.
With that said, I hope Montana pounds the sh!t out of the “farm extension” (aka ucd).

We all, I think, understand that and there may be some validity to a slightly heavier dude hitting you and the amount of soreness felt the following week. I read the article on injuries a couple of years ago that someone had posted at AGS on injuries vs. FBS opponents compared to opponents at your own level. There was no discernible difference in the two. I do wish I had saved it because I had always thought that we had less injuries/game when we played up and wondered what the actual percentages were. It was a couple of years ago and I've change/reformatted computers a couple of times since then so I have no idea where the article is located.

By the same logic, i could assume Weber would have beat Montana by more points if they'd played an FCS the previous week.

If safe to say that most of the time...a fbs team is going to dominate a fcs team. Having said that, how would you feel if you are getting dominated on every play vs. the fbs team? after the game, you're probably not going to have a broken arm, but you WILL be banged up. :twocents:

What does what I said have anything to do about how many points Weber scored on Montana? All i said Is WEBER DIDNT LOOK BANGED UP.

He said Uc Davis will be dominated on the line of Scrimmage by Montana, because they play Fresno the week before, Weber played Utah the week before Montana and WEBER dominated the line of Scrimage against the Griz. Now by your logic, how was Weber able to dominate the line of scrimmage against the Griz, after Weber played a FBS team the week before, and UM played a D2 school the week before?

bc Nobody knows the answer to this question:

If weber would have played SUU INSTEAD of Utah the game BEFORE montana, would weber have been able to put up more points on montana ?

still confused? well how about this...

weber vs utah= weber is banged up
weber vs montana= weber wins by x amount of points

but what if..

weber vs suu=weber NOT banged up
weber vs montana= weber wins by 2x amount of points

the point is.. its STILL possible that Weber was banged up when they played montana & won. its possible that, if they didnt play Utah the week before, they would have beaten Montana by more points.

Look all im saying, is even though UCD is playing Fresno, it doesnt mean UM is going to dominate the line of Scrimmage, that was my point. I still think UM will win, but it will be a close hard fought game. I dont think Um will Dominate UC Davis.

And all im saying is this:
Playing Fresno St. the week before Montana will have a negative effect ( physically & mentally) for UC Davis.

I know what you're saying. Last year against Wazzu, we knocked out two Cougar quarterbacks during the game. Neither one was a "dirty" play either, just hard-nosed football. Whether you are FCS or FBS, your quarterback is going to feel a free rush on his blind side for days after the game.
