I didn't say that pseudo-progressives weren't sore losers too. Look at all of the pearl clutching over Manchin and Sinema. They're peas in a pod and "they would do the same thing" isn't a good reason.

Any primary relying on government resources should be open. Want a closed primary, coordinate and pay for it yourself.
Speaking of sore progressive losers, this guy's already making excuses ...

Liberal MSNBC host preemptively blames Manchin, Sinema for Democrats' potential 2022 midterm shellacking

Reminds me of Trump in that regard.

Sure if they're were trying to change it because it was a bad idea but they're trying to change it because Trump's a whiny, cry baby loser.

And I don't know about Wyoming but I know that in Illinois, county governments are responsible for running the major party primaries using county employees and funds. Any primary relying on government resources should be open. Want a closed primary, coordinate and pay for it yourself.
I didn’t see it that way. They’re trying to change it and Trump ENDORSED the change….in your scenario they’d really have to wait until Cheney decided not to run again before changing it so as not to be able to “blame trump”.
So the in-state effort started before Cheney voted to impeach?

If the in-state effort started after Cheney voted to impeach then it's extremely likely that they're changing it because of Trump's temper tantrums and not because it's a bad law.

And I will state again "any primary relying on government resources should be open. Want a closed primary, coordinate and pay for it yourself." If a primary uses taxpayer dollars then it should be open to all taxpayers.

We're not going to agree on this one. IMO, any citizen should be able to vote in a primary that is coordinated using their tax dollars regardless of party affiliation. If a party doesn't want a closed primary then they should not rely on the government to fund it. One less mouth suckling at the gubmint tit.

Delaware, among other states, has closed primaries. There is a strong freedom-of-association argument in favor of them. Crossover primaries are always potentially subject to mischief-making by members of the other major party who seek to tilt the result toward a weaker candidate. The Cheney name is strong in Wyoming, so I think Liz will win no matter what primary system she runs in.

That’s great, if you could eliminate the tomfoolery that is bound to go on to fuck with the other party’s candidates. But you can’t. So here we are…a crappy law/process that needs to be revised. Because people aren’t to be trusted.

I get that and I don't disagree with it. I have two issues with this effort: One, it's vindictive and not based on fixing a bad law/process. Two, I don't think taxpayer dollars should be used to exclude people from the process.

It would be hilarious if this passes and Cheney wins anyway. It would be interesting who Trump would throw under the bus to excuse him getting his azz kicked again. The richness would be worth having a neo-con in Congress.

Trump didn't go to Washington to clean up the grift. He went to replace it with his own. And he convinced millions of marks that he was fighting for them.

But here I ldoubt there's enough donk cross-over votes to save Cheney, anyways.

It's hypocritical to want to criticize Cheney for her grift but give Trump a pass on his.
  • On the plus side, a lot of good things happened during Trump's presidency. On the negative side, he's a lying, cheating, stealing, rapist grifter.
  • On the plus side, Cheney voted for Trump's impeachment (which while a waste of political time was a reasonable vote). On the negative side she's a neo-con grifter.

No defending Trump's grift. I was simply dumping on Cheney and hadn't realized UNI had brought up Trump specifically before I chimed in. Had to go back and read the thread.

But, if asked to pick between the two, I'd pick Trump for at least trying to make life better.
