FCS Preview: CAA

Post by JMU DJ »

Pretty decent analysis about each team in the CAA (Who they got, what they need to do, expectations, etc).

Predicted order of finish remains the same.

Good find.
This guy has a good blog and says he'll be covering FCS in depth this year.

Here's his FCS-wide preview and his Top 25 - http://digitalsportsdaily.com/fcs-2009-preview/
DSD’s FCS Pre-Season Top-25
1. Appalachian State
2. Villanova
3. Montana
4. Northern Iowa
5. Weber State
6. Richmond
7. Southern Illinois
8. New Hampshire
9. Elon
10. James Madison
11. South Carolina State
12. Wofford
13. McNeese State
14. South Dakota State
15. Central Arkansas
16. Eastern Washington
17. Maine
18. Texas State
19. Holy Cross
20. Grambling State
21. Montana State
22. Cal Poly
23. Jacksonville State
24. William & Mary
25. Georgia Southern
Not horrible, although I certainly don't agree with Grambling.

Yeah, I was reading into some of his other articles (including the one you posted Dane). Seems pretty knowledgeable.

Damn, we're gonna suck again...
Delaware

In seven seasons at the helm of the Fightin’ Blue Hens head coach K.C. Keeler has been to the pinnacle of FCS football. With the 2003 championship trophy on display and an FCS championship game relatively fresh in Delaware fans’ minds, Keeler knows that old adage: “What have you done for me lately?”. Looking at last season, in all candor, the answer would be “not much”.

Offensively, Keeler faces a big challenge in year number eight. No quarterback with experience, losing his top two rushers and four of his top six receivers from a team that went 4-8 in 2008. Junior quarterback Pat Devlin, a first-year transfer from Penn State, is expected to start. From there, the offense looks bleak.

Not a bad assessment of UMass...but I wish he was correct on one statement...
Three of the top five defensive players from last season return for the Minutemen. Senior linebacker Josh Jennings and senior defensive back Jeromy Miles led UMass in tackles while senior Kyle Harrington anchors the defensive line. Replacing five starters is not the worst of scenarios for defensive coordinator Keith Dudzinski, but the depth chart is a concern.
Josh Jennings may not play his senior season....at least not at the begining...he's still got back problems that are keeping him from practicing...

He ranks four Socon schools in the top 25 in his poll with Furman unranked. The article says that their are four schools contending for the socon title and one of them is Furple. Where is the love for GSU?
