My wife liked the Bruno Mars halftime show better. It was good, as is anything with Snoop involved. Although it was billed as so epic it felt like it didn't quite live up to the expectations that were impossible to live up to.

Game was good, not great. Refs ruined it down the stretch. Too bad for the Bengals, would have been the feel good story of the decade. But it is good to see Stafford win something, my God what did we all miss with that wasted decade in Detroit? :ohno:

HT show was really just a nod to us millennials that grew up on mainstream gangsta rap. Agree that Prince and Bruno Mars were better shows.

You know, I was paying attention to Cupp because people were saying during his last year at EWU that he is the greatest receiver to ever come out of I-AA/FCS and I didn't think so. I had been comparing his career to that of Marques Colston. Not because I think Colston was the greatest ever, but because I thought he was a pretty good NFL receiver who succeeded after being an undrafted free agent. Before this year, Cupp's numbers were pretty comparable to Colston's given their corresponding times in the NFL.

But this year Cupp had two years worth of production in one year. i don't think he will end up being thought of as the greatest receiver to ever come out of I-AA/FCS. But it was statistically the best season of any NFL receiver ever.

What gets me is that he is slow for a NFL receiver. His NFL combine 40 yard dash time was 4.62. You can Google around and you can see that the average speed for wide receivers in the combine is around 4.5. I Googled to see if I could find a 100 meter time for Cupp and I found this for his senior year in high school: https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/ ... ID=4303973

His fastest 100 meter time listed is 11.74.

It's really weird that a guy who is, frankly, slow for his position by NFL standards is able to do what he does.

And, yes, I know that if you Google Jerry Rice 40 yard time you get 4.71. But you also see a bunch of stuff about how that is uncertain and he may have really been around 4.5.

I dunno. His top speed isn't that fast. I would compare his combine results to Ja'marr Chase of LSU on the other side in the Super Bowl but Chase didn't got to the combine. So I'll go with the other LSU wideout from the 2019/2020 national title team. Justin Jefferson.

40 yard dash: Jefferson 4.43, Kupp 4.62
Top speed reached during 40: Jefferson 18.47, Kupp 17.71
20 yard split: Jefferson 2.61, Kupp 2.69
10 yard split: Jefferson 1.57, Kupp 1.62

Doesn't matter if it's 40 yards, 10 yards, 20 yards, or top speed. Jefferson is notably faster. If you had them line up and run a 40 yard race Jefferson would be ahead at 10 yards and continue to stretch the lead then win by a comfortable margin. Cupp just is not a fast NFL receiver. But he is productive.

Part of an article from Eastern’s former SID that was edited out for space….

https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2022/ ... s-histori/
However, none of those details tell the entire story of a guy from Yakima who just 10 years ago was undersized, underestimated, under-appreciated and under-exposed. He may have been 119 pounds as a high school freshman, but there is nothing “under” about the superiority he’s showing now.

An unmatched work ethic, the intelligence of a coach and loads of humility and modesty have been the essential ingredients to create the most-respected receiver in the World.

“Coop” had 428 catches, 6,464 yards and 73 touchdowns in his breakthrough college career at Eastern Washington University, plus a few rushes, returns and passes he tossed in. Since then, including playoff games, he’s had another 478 grabs, 6,142 yards and 47 scores in the NFL, again, with a few rushes, returns and passes to boot.

Those are off the charts numbers for a nine-year career that now includes 129 career regular season and playoff games: 906-12,606-120. The numbers simply don’t lie, and are the footnote to a journey that shows how Kupp’s pivotal performances and pivotal experiences have led him to pivotal moments.

And on Sunday's magic carpet ride to the Super Bowl title – red carpet now for sure – his journey from Yakima to Cheney and finally to L.A. led to the most pivotal moment of all.
It’s not that he’s the fastest but that he reaches his top velocity quickly and utilizes foot work and separation to find space and break tackles. This is what we used to call “game speed”, John. It’s ok to admit you were wrong about Kupp. Timed track speeds are only metric. It’s ok to admit you were wrong. Just sit back and enjoy.

I do I want to see a WHITE RANDY MOSS all white WRs are always labeled as SLOW,UNATHLETIC and immediately placed in the slot.Justin Watson who was drafted by Tampa Bay fits the bill 6'3 220 4.35 speed he is now in Kansas City playing with MAHOMES.I personally was hoping that the Ravens snatched him up to team him with Lamar Jackson.

Don Beebe ran a 4.21 40

His record 40-yard dash time of 4.25 seconds at the NFL Combine, which he shared with Deion Sanders, stood until 2008 when Chris Johnson broke it with a time of 4.23.

Beebe was very much undersized but yes his speed was his calling card into the NFL and Green Bay snatched a guy Bill Schroeder from D3 Wisconsin-Whitewater and he was another exception to the rule when it came to speed he was a 4.25 guy as well he was a given a chance to show off his ability.I wished that he played in Philly with Randall Cunningham he would have launched it to him along with Fred Barnett who was a speed merchant in his own right 4.35.If Schroeder was at Wisconsin D1 with this obvious ability he might have been a first round choice. He could have been the ROGER CARR of his era!!!! Carr was a WHITE WR with a reputation as speed demon in the '70s he was the DON HUTSON of his era.In fact John Elway was begging Dan Reeves to get him a big play WR this guy would have been just what the doctor ordered.
