I would doubt it - outdoor event in Texas, plenty of time for boosters, plenty of time after Christmas spike

Sure. But let's hope it doesn't happen. Interesting match up.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

BTW, as I was watching the Missouri vs. Army bowl game last night they were discussing the contingency planning for what's going to happen if teams can't play in the College Football Championship.

No cancellation. I was just reading the rules for the bowl games and assume it will be the same for the FCS championship.

As long as someone is fully vaccinated, you don't have to test them. So, I would assume it's going to be "see no evil" in regards to testing anyone fully vaccinated close to the national championship. It's why the whole Michigan team all just got boosters. To prevent the loss of any players.
Certification. The director of athletics and the institution's chief medical officer must certify that each person with access to the playing field on game day has tested negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours of the kickoff or has been fully vaccinated

The protocols for the bogus CFP notwithstanding, the FCS Championship is a standalone game with a gap between it and the semifinals. That alone makes a cancellation seem unlikely to me, but another idea that would compensate for that would be the possibility of postponing the game until both teams are healthy enough to compete.

Although, seeing how many games are now being cancelled, I'm starting to rethink my statement. Apparently they actually are testing the vaccinated, which is a good thing.

Yahoo is listing it as cancelled, but they also post an article stating that Wazzu is calling all comers. Illinois (5-7, 4-5 Big Ten) has apparently said no. I'm hoping that Sac jumps in on this, but I'm scared that Montana or EWU will jump on it first. EWU-Wazzu WOULD be an intriguing matchup, but I want my Hornets to snag the glory of a bowl scalp....

Would there be a payout involved for an FCS opponent. I’d assume at least travel costs would be covered.

If they took any FCS team, it would be JMU, as JMU is the best team available, and are moving up to FBS. Sammy would probably be next on the list..

But they ain’t taking any FCS teams, despite all the fantasizing about it on the JMU board the last 4 days after Texas A&M was the 1st domino of teams pulling out of their bowl games..Players are all scattered on Christmas break, and JMU hasn’t played/practiced in 10 day, the last minute logistocs would be too great, and NCAA bylaws says you must have 5 FBS wins. No FCS team has more than 1.

If they can waive the 6-win requirement for Rutgers, they can waive THAT, too....
