Post by Mvemjsunpx »

Playoffs

SDKST 17-31 MTST
JMU 14-20 NDSU

  • Best Performance: (#2) North Dakota St. 20, (#3) James Madison 14 - Hunter Luepke puts up 199 total yards and 2 receiving TDs to propel the Bison to their 9th. title-game appearance in the last 11 seasons.

Worst Performance: South Dakota St. 17, (#8) Montana St. 31 - The good half/bad half dynamic continued for the Jackrabbits as they had 4 second-half drives end in MSU territory with no points.

Most Surprising Result: (#8) Montana St. 31, South Dakota St. 17 - "Touchdown Tommy" Mellott's 388 yards of total offense and 4 total touchdowns allow the Bobcats to become the 2nd. lowest seed to make the title game in the 24-team era (Youngstown was unseeded in 2016).

Celebration Bowl

SCSU 31-10 JSU (in Atlanta, GA)

  • Best Performance: South Carolina St. 31, (#15) Jackson St. 10 - Bulldog QB Corey Fields only went 12/31 for 166 yards, but he had 4 TD passes (3 to Shaquan Davis).

Worst Performance: (#15) Jackson St. 10, South Carolina St. 31 - Jerry Rice award winner Shedeur Sanders had a bad game: 16/36, 175 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs.

Most Surprising Result: South Carolina St. 31, (#15) Jackson St. 10 - In the worst season for the MEAC perhaps ever, they easily manage their 4th. straight win in the Celebration Bowl anyway.

I don't agree with that, based on what we knew at the time anyway. They looked like a total fraud against the Griz, and there's a good chance they would've been one-and-done (even without a bye, depending on the draw) if they'd stuck with Matthew McKay.

Agreed. If anything is shows SDSU is a seed if they don't shit the bed in that USD hail mary.
