We knew the Taliban was going to go through the ANA like a hot knife theough butter, but we pulled our military out without disabling or destroying billions of equipment 1st, which falls into the hands of the Taliban, and left the non combatants there, so we had to turn around and send troops back in to rescue them. While the rest of the US Government squanders trillions, the United States Marine Corps keeps the CH-46 going for a seventh decade.

Whenever I hopped a flight on one, you always wanted to feel the hydraulic fluid drip on you, so you at least knew that there was some left in the aircraft.

Also, BDK is slipping. I need a clip of Blinken saying that Afghanistan won't fall from a Friday to a Monday. You just can't make up the soundbites that Biden and Blinken dropped in the weeks leading up to this unmitigated Biden disaster.

Your mindset (as long as it takes) is in the vast, vast majority in today’s America. We don’t have the stomach for it, and the past few wars/military actions have shown our enemies exactly that. They merely need to outwait our patience. We don’t play to win. We don’t unleash hell. We play patty cake for 15-20 years, then bail. This war became almost a virtual carbon copy of Viet Nam, right down to the photo of the helicopter evacuation from the roof of the embassy.

Agreed. The example the Soviets set with their own Afghanistan debacle should have been a large road sign. At the time, people called Afghanistan the "Soviet Vietnam." I'm not surprised, therefore, that this botched withdrawal is starting to look a lot like the evacuation of Saigon. Only, this time around, it's much harder because Kabul is so much farther from the coast, where escape vessels could wait for evacuees....

Does the Army throw weight standards out the window for their generals? This dude looks straight out of the USSR. I was disappointed he didn't speak in Russian, or at least have a thick Russian accent.

ANd JFC, the Army throws more trinkets on their uniforms than a fucking Webelos Scout.
