Here's how valuable Wakefield is.... After the bullpen got used heavily last night and with Matsuzaka going today... If an early call needs to be made to the bullpen wakefield has volunteered to pitch. Regardless of what happens tonight Wakefield will still make his scheduled start Tuesday.

The Yankees sure made the Mets their bitch today. I bet K-Rod feels real smart for his pre-game charades today.

Yea, K-Rod is a good pitcher, but until he can control his emotions like he usually controls his pitches, he'll be his own worst enemy over time...that was bush league today...Willie wrote:The Yankees sure made the Mets their bitch today. Re: Official New York Yankees Thread
FYI anyone looking for good yankee tix they just added a bunch of specials (E-Savers)
http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/nyy/ticketing/esaver.jsp
They are for the Audi Club, Batter's Eye (dead center field) and Mohegan Sun seating and, suprisingly, include the 4th of July weekend games.
The Batter's eye seats are pretty cool - dead center field above the Mohegan Sun sport's bar. There's only about 20 or so seats in that section. They are selling for $50 from the original price of $125.

The Red Sox are the only team they haven't beaten at least once in a series. I believe that's the only team that's swept them all season. That will change. Now that we got rid of Veras and got Bruney back the bullpen should get a little more reliable.grizzaholic wrote:Or good ones as of lateWillie wrote:Yanks lose to the Nats...go fucking figure. Go fucking figure a red cox fan would point minute details out about a team him and his favorite organization are completely jealous of.

Looks like Liriano might pitch today since Perkins missed a start last night because of a fever.
Perkins could also be the starter.

Yanks are playing much better and are now tied for first. Still, I won't get excited about this team until it proves it can consistently get up for big games.

Robertson tried his best to give the game away, he's gotta go. Hughes did a good job, and Rivera got Mauer to ground out to end the game.JoltinJoe wrote:Yanks are playing much better and are now tied for first. Re: Official New York Yankees Thread
The Yankees are deluding themselves if they think they can skate by with Mitre as the No. 5 starter for the next few weeks. If they keep wedded to that decision, they have "wild card" stamped all over them.
It's time to move Philip Hughes into the No. 5 spot, and expect Brian Bruney to do his job in the 8th inning, or find someone else to cover the 8th. Hughes can go back to the bullpen come playoff time.

Re: Official New York Yankees Thread
It was a dumb move to put Hughes into the bullpen in the first place. He's a starter, plain and simple. And we need to get rid of Wang, he's worthless to us now.

What really hurt is Ian Kennedy's injury.
Girardi just said on Fox that the month of August will see substantial moves. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bronson Arroyo from the Reds come to the Yankees off waivers.

Sox better get some hitting or they'll be lucky to keep a hold on the wildcard.
2 runs in their last 33 innings of play.
