Just an observation here: This guy, who nobody knows if he's credible or not, is getting the star treatment b/c he has "dirt" on Biden, allegedly. He's getting a pass from one news outlet and ignored by others.

If this guy had dirt on Trump, CNN would have him on endless loop while Fox News and BDK would call him a loser, liar, etc...

That's the legacy that I think will be interesting coming out of this election and beyond. I can't remember a time in my life when the media has been as biased and as editorial of the news as they are today. I imagine this is what it felt like back in the other turn of the century when yellow journalism was the order of the day. I can't turn on any station anymore and not shake my head at what appears to be fully purposeful and intended crafting of the news, either in the telling or even more so in the complete omission of news. Even NPR has turned to pre-telling the story before they run anything. It's sad really, journalism is certainly one of the major casualties of the past couple of years and I'm not sure how they rebound from this.

It is disappointing. Us on this board are probably more informed than the avg person and even we have trouble finding a news agency that try's to show little bias.

I got it going for Biden, 275 to 263. I don't see anyone getting over 300 electoral votes like how Trump did back in 2016. Going to be a close one, for sure, and likely to be litigated well into late November/early December. That's the legacy I blame on Gore after all these years - some folks are so personally consumed by running for office that they can't come to grips with losing. Gore blazed the way on how to take the country down with him in his dogged pursuit to not give up.

Oh, and I think the Senate stays red by one seat, so 51-49 GOP. I think even if the Dems get it it would be the 50/50 split with the VP being the tie breaker. No chance the House turns red, the only real drama will be when and if Pelosi ever decides to retire or if she gets a challenge again from within the party by someone in the under-80 club.

MSNBC is pretty much another division of the Biden campaign right now. Then again, I’ve never really considered it news anyway.

Agreed, I always had them as the original counter-weight to FOX. And I could live with that binary, you knew what you were getting and it was mainly isolated to those two. The real casualties in this have been the CNN's, the ABC's, and the NPR's of the world, with CNN basically being the most mangled corpse of them all. No one could've predicted 5 years ago that CNN would be so far to the extreme that FOX News would have to start playing catchup just to be in the same vicinity of extreme news manipulation/bias. ABC News at 6:30PM (ECB) has just become unwatchable, and like I said, NPR injects opinion into almost every interview and story now - the interviews tend to be gotcha journalism anymore. I'm sure the far right has their share of bubble news sites they recuse themselves to, but the formerly mainstream ones are the ones who have galloped to the left and towards explicit bias. :coffee:

Can you explain that?

I was barely in high school at the time, so it is more a historical event than a memory for me. But, from my understanding the first count showed a tiny difference and automatically triggered a recount according to state law. The Bush campaign sued to stop the recount. Gore's team argued the recount should continue (this is the step crossed the line? :suspicious: )

It was the Gore approach initially to only recount the votes that may or may not push him over the top (so targeted recounts in counties that may favor him). At the onset, they didn't care if the vote total was correct, just that they got the most votes. What was just a concern over the design of a butterfly ballot (which no one or party contested until after the election) in one locale opened up the can of worms to look for votes anywhere. The recount saga spiraled after that and we got into hanging chads and other drama. He could've taken the high road and conceded the election early on, but his hubris got the better of him and we spent I think 4-5 weeks with the election in doubt and lots of damaged institutions in its wake.

I was a Senior in HS. IIRC, Bush won Florida by such a thin margin that a recount was mandatory - Gore conceded...then withdrew...then put up a month long legal battle that went to the Supreme Court. I remember him saying he wanted the people recounting the ballots to look at the ballots and make a guess as to whether or not they meant to vote for him or Bush or Pat B.

Breaking News - Republican thinks Trump will win
We predict that President Trump is going to win the 2020 presidential election — and win big.

While the majority of the polls suggest that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is leading, or at best that it’s close, those polls suffer from at least three problems.

Pwns wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2020 9:06 am This is purely anecdotal but I know someone on the board of elections in a purple county in Georgia who is saying they're getting lots of Biden Ballots that are all GOP on the down-ballot races.

I'd flip Florida and Arizona on Jelly's map to Trump and say the GOP keeps the senate majority.
I suspect the tale is apocryphal but the fact that Georgia is even in play to the point where they can't even worry about masking the voter suppression..... :ohno:

That shit was out the door long ago, and it was the Republicans who wanted it that way. I hope they start giving the Republicans some of that "get him outta here and don't be too gentle", get the populace inflamed until they start dragging bankers and corporate big wheels into the street and administering street justice.... :notworthy:

I'm not sure what proof there is of him being corrupt (and to be honest I haven't looked deep into it) but he isn't corrupt when compared to Clinton and Or a NYC Real Estate developer during a time when the mafia ran NYC and the construction industry there.

Hunter Biden may be unethical but I haven't seen irrefutable proof that Papa Joe was involved.
Hunter laptop scandal, plus the fact that Biden has enriched himself during his career as a politician. Yeah no different than any other scumbag career politician, but the narratives are that Biden isn't like that even though it's obvious that he is.
True, but its easy to pass off a narrative like that when the oponent is a straight-up criminal enterprise

The Conservative Treehouse! While Russia has died down and I don't visit that site as much, I gave up on the MSM four years ago. Plenty of good blogs out there. They are biased as well, but at least they don't try to hide the fact and admit when they were wrong.

Where do you think I got my 37 state Trump victory from?

Even Mark Levin thinks the Conk Treehouse is bat shit crazy.

I’ve actually wandered back to our local paper the Spokesman Review. It’s straight forward local reporting and dry AP stories.
The FB comments section is very active and includes reporters and local business leaders. It seems to piss off both sides equally.

I’m also back more to mainstream large organizations with the resources to (as Jelly pointed out long ago) have boots on the ground and real journalists.

Huffpo and Yahoo news are outrageously sensationalistic...as bad if not worse than the infotainment networks.

It is, but if you can see through the bias, he still presents information no one else bothered to research.

I guess I a better description for my news sources would be that I find writers.

For example, Restate.com, which is nutty right has a good writer that has already come out and said he doesn't expect anyone affiliated with Biden to go to jail. It was a typical DC line your pockets move. He was a former DOJ prosecutor. He made sense, has the experience and I believe him.
