I am sure they do that, but given the age of many attendees, they may not be tech savvy

Re: Coronavirus
Other than a few buffering issues, parents and friends churches did the exact same thing.

Don't over think it. Mailing a check isn't that hard. And old folks still write checks.

These are some really positive numbers (at least I think) and illustrates the efficacy of hard strategies.

So true. One of our local churches posted a letter on FB about cancelling services. First paragraph reminded people to keep sending their checks.

Re: Coronavirus
Those look great. I don't think Minnesota is going to go hard. Once the ICU capacity ramped up and sufficient, they sound like they are accepting the inevitable. He is more concerned about the economy.kalm wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 1:11 pm These are some really positive numbers (at least I think) and illustrates the efficacy of hard strategies.

Re: Coronavirus
I''ve heard some docs say peak likely in 3-4 weeks.Gil Dobie wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 7:16 amThe actual 2.4 million is just Minnesota, peak in 14 weeks. This will give the state time to build up ICU capacity. Unless there is a vaccine or treatment, this virus will run it's course. The main issue is hospital beds for cases are taken for 7-14 days, that's why they are dragging it out with shelter at home and lock downs. Cases in an ICU have a 10 times great chance to survive.
Correct it will run its course. But like Dr Berks? (scarf lady) said (think Fauci said similar) said 50%-60% majority of the country getting it would be after 3 cycles with no mitigation, and letting it run its course. We're on the 1st cycle now with pretty heavy mitigation. 2nd cycle could be this fall-2021, 3rd cycle 2021-2022. Next cycle should at least have proven therapeutics. 3rd cycle should have a vaccine.

There are a number of services that churches use to collect electronically. They actually help a church budget better...

Re: Coronavirus
Maybe China is using the same testing kits they sold to Spain, which basically are failing to detect the virus...640,000 worthless kits...

And the Czech Republic has reported very similar problems with Chinese-provided test kits...

Yet we lag well behind in deaths. I don't trust case numbers.

Unfortunately, that is probably the case. Like we are living in a Sci Fi movie right now.

Yep. Scoreboard (deaths) is what matters.

Re: Coronavirus
Yes. But there is no way to compare any other country to us. We are many countries. South Korea is smaller than Virginia. Italy is a little bigger than Colorado. Each region of the country will have different results. It doesn't look like temperature is playing a factor, at least not yet. At this point, it looks like travel patterns, social distancing, and sheltering in place are the biggest factors thus far.

Re: Coronavirus
Yeah no shit.
Only an idiot would think the numbers add up.
When a country with 5Xs the population and had the virus for months before the US did suddenly fails behind a country with 320 million people in it....... You know they are lying or not testing.
Oh no......... We have 100k that have it. Yawn

Re: Coronavirus
Tennessee topped 1,000 cases
Ohio and North Carolina are likely to hit that tomorrow
US will likely break 100 K tomorrow - which would be 45 K plus in three days

Re: Coronavirus
On the hopeful side for now, the death rate in the US is at 4 per million, far below many of the other hard hit countries, on par with Germany and SK.
Above the "official" Chinese rate, but those numbers are suspect
