If you're a cranky old fart who hates change and wishes he lived next door to the Cleavers and Donna Reed.
I'm guessing 89 only considers something as "on TV" if it is available to him through his cable package, streaming channels don't count as "TV". Of course if you follow that logic then maybe cable isn't really TV and the only things that should count are over-the-air channels.

Well, ESPN3 isn’t on “TV” At least not regular television. Its streamed. You can have a top tier television package with every sports channel in the world, but if you don’t have high speed internet access, you can’t watch it. Much less record it.

I must be a cranky old fart then.
-You must like watching commercials. I refuse to watch them on TV. I can’t easily fast forward through them on a streaming game.
-With a 3+ hr televised game I can watch it in 1 hr+. I’m not sitting in front of my TV for 3-3.5 hrs watching a damn football game.
-I can’t record the streaming games.
-Can’t do the pause, rewind, fast forward, slo motion on the streaming games like I do on TV.

Correct, except for the hyperbole at the end (and the first sentence, you seem FAR more irritable than I).

TV is changing. Streaming services which provide the same experience and content as satellite or OTA is new wave television.

What is "regular" television? Cable television? Why? I would rather have high speed internet than cable.
I use Comcast for Internet only and get all of my channels through streaming or OTA. And I can record OTA television.

It's not hyperbole, streaming is becoming mainstream and at some point in the future people are going to look back at cable TV the way you look at OTA. The funny thing is that OTA is also (re)gaining viewers due to small, powerful antennas and DVRs that can receive and record the signals. You could probably get an antenna strong enough to pick up DC and Baltimore stations.

Pretty good viewing on my Rockola. I get more than I can watch. Not going to pay for Disney, Apple, Hulu, ESPN+....
I have YouTubeTV, NetFlix, Prime, Disney+ and ESPN+ and I'm paying less than I was for a Comcast Triple Play. Plus my kids can all watch and we're in 4 different locations that would require 4 separate cable subscriptions. I'm spending less money for better TV.

I don't get History which is a sacrifice because I have to wait to watch Vikings and Knightfall. I don't know about Discovery or Smithsonian but I do get HGTV, Food and a number of other channels. I am more than happy waiting to watch my History shows when they're on Netflix or Prime in exchange for being able to watch the Mandalorian, UNI games on ESPN+, etc.

89Henette got a wifi TV for her room when she was still living at home last year, but she got very few channels. It was fine for her because the content she had was mostly what she wanted. I could not survive on what she had.

3 of the channels I watch. Plus are probably others you don’t get (AHC, Military History, Nat Geo, AE are some off the top of my head) so your deal would’t work for me.

You two sound like the old farts bitching about there being too many channels when cable first became a big thing. You could do a Geico commercial about becoming your parents.

There's some truth to that, but it's not unfounded.
When I first got married we had a phone bill (home line) and a cable bill. Total between the two was probably $70 a month. I now pay $270 to Xfinity for cable, internet and home phone (don't get me started on that one) and $270 to Sprint for four mobile phones with unlimited everything. That doesn't even start to get into XM, Spotify, Netflix, etc... I do feel bad for the younger generation that knows nothing but all this excess without people being any smarter.
