Cignetti talked a lot about the UNI defense. Said was the best JMU will have seen since WVU, and probably the best secondary will have faced the entire season.

UNI's defense might be better than WVU's.
Yep best defense on the field tonight and best that JMU has seen so far this year. Offense not so much.

Good luck next week Dukies!

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

UNI great defense for sure, but I think JMU‘s was the best on the field last night..

Total offense:
JMU 357 (189 rushing/157 passing).
UNI 114 (0 rushing/114 passing).
Yes, that isn‘t a misprint. UNI had zero net yards rushing..

Attendance listed at 8,741. May not have been that many, but playoff #s generally not inflated like the regular season since playoffs NCAA gets a cut. Maybe only 5-6k at kickoff..For next Sat if decent weather will think will get 16-18k..

If the defenses switched jerseys the UNI offense would have had 50 total yards and the JMU offense 500.

Both defenses played well. Hard to compare stats with UNI having several out for injuries.

Doubt it. That JMU defense has faced JMU’s offense all year long in practice..
+ JMU went ultraconservative 2nd half (23 passes 1st half, 5 second). Otherwise I think they get well over 400..

Yep. 2 of the probably top 3 defenses in the country (with NDSU).

-UNI, among all their injuries, didn’t have their 1k+ yard stud WR who got a concussion? last week vs SDSU. Maybe they would have scored with him, maybe not.

-Haven’t seen recording of game yet, UNI apparently got screwed on their 1st fumble. Apparently replay showed it should have been overturned. Same thing happened to JMU in the SBU game- JMU fumble that TV replays clearly showed should have been overturned but the replay crew didn’t overturn. So CAA crews aren’t the only ones that F up instant replay. It ultimately didn’t hurt UNI, because JMU fumbled it back.

-I didn’t realize Dinucci got his bell rung as bad as he did 2nd qtr. A lot of folk on the JMU board think he got concussed, as he was playing great before the hit, and not very good after. A few thought throwing shoulder got dinged. Not buying either. Seeing as how UNI coukd do nothing on offense, 10-0 might as well have been 20-0.

I think the Cignetti and the JMU OC went ultra conservative(Cignetti basically said so after the game). 23 pass attempts the 1st half, 5 the 2nd half, the 1st being the INT. Probably told Dinucci not to run it unless he absolutely had to. He never kept it on the read option thr 2nd half, despite a # of opportunities to gain positive yardage when the UNI defese was keying on the JMU RBs.. On the INT he looked like he could have ran it into the endzone (would have taken a hit), but he pulls up at the LOS and throws the boneheaded pick. When he slid in the 4th he slid way early.

19 for 28, 157 yds, 1 TD/1 INT isn’t bad against a great defense like UNI.

Extremely noble effort by UNI's defense. The difference between what UNI's defense did and what JMU's defense did is that UNI's defense was facing a great offense and JMU"s was not.

That's not to say JMU doesn't have a great defense. They do. But UNI's defense had absolutely no support from the offense. They were on the field ALL night. They were constantly defending the short field against a very good offense. You have to give those guys a lot of credit. And the only reason it was 17 points instead of 10 is that UNI had to go for it on 4th down from deep in their own territory near the end of the game.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
