Many people are saying JMU by 56-75, from what I'm seeing. I'm just saying, UNI might not be as bad as many people think. Comparative scores are not a very good measure of teams playing head to head, but UNI keeping it close with Iowa St, says they can play with the big boys, and yes JMU is a big boy. This young NDSU team doesn't have a chance against them.
I haven’t seen anyone saying JMU by 56-75. That’s ludicrous. I’m thinking JMU by more like 14 to 21 in a bad weather game.
No the point spread I gave is hyperbole.

Looking at the scores, I would say UNI over JMU, but you never know how the teams matchup until they play. Has each team improved since that early season game versus a FBS team.
Well, we can't go with so limited a transitive thing. But it's true that if you just go with performances against Power 5 teams UNI's was more impressive. If you go with a "score comparisons" approach that considers all scores simultaneously Sagarin has JMU as a 14.5 point favorite.

Based on the way I do it that translates into a 82% chance of a JMU win. By that I mean that I'd expect teams that are 14.5 point favorites by Sagarin to win about 82% of the time.

I do think this is interesting though. I think this is the toughest FCS opponent JMU will have faced this year. And I guess that makes sense since it's the quarterfinals.

FWIW JMU has covered (Vegas line) I think in 12 of 13 games. The only one it didn’t obviously was the OT win @ SBU. (Every team has at least 1 massive underperformance during the year).

Right now the line is JMU -17.5.

If they'd move to a man scheme rather than trying this damn reach zone thing they've been trying it would make a big difference too....

OL coach was an all american at Oregon when they were truly "Oregon" in the early and mid 00s. He's trying that scheme but it's just not workring

Something I saw pointed out on the JMU board that hadn't noticed before.
UNI had their "bye" week on Week 3, 9/14. Will be their 13th straight week playing, with their 2nd straight road game, after playing a tough physical, close game, on a short week to boot.
JMU had their bye week on Week 10, 11/2. And off course another bye on Week 14/1st round, 11/30.Then had a tough 1st quarter vs Monmouth before cruising.

Can UNI hold James Madison under 20 points? Because that's probably what they're gonna need to do to have a chance here. The Panthers have somehow managed to win 2 playoff games while only scoring a total of 23 points on offense. Expecting them to do much—if any—better against JMU is far fetched, so it'll come down the UNI defense. The Dukes have only been held under 30 points against an FCS team once, however, and they're averaging 44.1 ppg on the season. The Dukes won't put up 66 against the Panthers, of course, but they're not gonna get totally shut down either.

        • Northern Iowa 13-34 James Madison

Didn't we have something like that last year for one of our away games? Time to find a new charter company.

Missouri State 2015

Left Waterloo at like 4PM
Issues in air and they switched planes in Kansas City and took back off. Got to Sprinfield and couldn't land due to weather. Went back to Kansas City. Got to Kansas City and a hotel after midnight. Took back off in the morning and landed in Springfield 45 minutes before kick off. They literally got off the plane dressed

Won 41-0 and went home.

I’d be fine with moving the game until Sat afternoon. Winter weather advisory Shenandoah Valley Fri morning-afternoon due to freezing rain & ice. The Friday evening forecast blows (35 degrees and raining the whole game). Add to that most of the fanbase 2 to 3 1/2 hr drives away (way longer in work traffic & bad weather) in the DC, Richmond, and Tidewater areas. Also students are done exam/starting Christmas break.

Sat AM rain is suppose to clear out by mid morning, and suppose to hit 51 by afternoon. Would more than double the crowd if moved it to Sat.

Guessing late arrivals 6k, 1/4 full. It sucks, but is what it is. 35 and rain is worse than 25 & snow.

JMU avg 22,144 regular season.
Playoff attendance new Bridgeforth:
2014
13,040 Liberty (1st Rd, Thanksgiving Weekend)
2015
-15,045 Colgate (2nd Rd)
2016
-13231 UNH (2nd Rd)
-15646 SHSU (Qtr Final Friday night) -
2017
-16449 SBU (2nd Rd)
-13490 Weber St (Qtr Final, Friday night)
-16528 SDSU (Semis)
2018
-7297 UD (1st Rd, Thanksgiving Weekend)
2019
-10,881 Monmouth (2nd round)

The UD game last season was by far the lowest.
-1st Rd Thanksgiving Weekend are always the lowest attended.
-JMU fans 6 days prior had been expecting a seed. No one had plans for a game.
-The forecast called for rain, which held off until after the game.

Last 2 JMU possessions:
-3rd and goal Dinucci throws INT in endzone. Started to scramble and probably could have made endzone. Dumb.
-After UNI 3 and out (UNI only 50 some yds offense through 3 qtrs) JMU misses 36 yd FG.

Start 4th qtr UNI 1st and 10 at their 34..
Still 10-0
