1R - Holy Cross @ Monmouth

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

This looks like the biggest mismatch of the first round. Holy Cross was clearly the class of the Patriot League, but that didn't mean much this year. It's clear the Crusaders are—on paper—the weakest team in the field. Meanwhile, Monmouth almost certainly has the best team they've ever had in Kevin Callahan's 27-year coaching tenure. The Hawks have never won a postseason game during Callahan's time (they lost both of their mid-major bowl games in the 2000s), but that will almost certainly change this weekend.

Na, just don't know much about either team, I did see Monmouth @ UM early in the season and kind of felt that Monmouth presented pretty well.

It's now final.

Monmouth (NJ) Hawks (10-2) 44, Holy Cross (MA) Crusaders 27.

Monmouth faces #2 James Madison (VA) Dukes in Harrisburg next week, with a 10 am PST kickoff.
