Hornet defense dominated. The dungpilers only managed 133 yards of offense after the 1st quarter. Hornet offense on the other hand took a little bit to get going.

The one concern for Sac is that Thomson's passing stats haven't been real good since he returned from injury. He seems to be 100% running-wise, though.

Not so much last night, Venus. Thomson threw for an even 300 to EIGHT different receivers and even had a passing TD.

Of course, you don't NEED multiple passing TDs when you get two on the ground yourself....

Saw an interesting historical note when looking at stats for the McNeese at Lamar game at the ESPN "College Football Scores" pages last night. Here is a quote from the "Recap:"

"The Cowboys extended their winning-season streak to 15 straight years, which is the longest in the FCS after Jacksonville State lost."

At first I thought North Dakota State must have a longer streak but some seasons weren't counted because they were D2. But when I looked it up I saw they had a losing season in 2009.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Thomson finished strong down the stretch so I'm not overly concerned. He probably isn't 100% but probably pretty close to it. The bigger concern is that Pierre Williams went down in the 2nd quarter and didn't return, although he did stay suited up on the sideline. Good thing we get a first round bye.

The timing of his post notwithstanding, SCSU does have a legitimate gripe seeing as they beat Wofford

I actually expected Thomson to be shaken up after his first TD, where he did a vertical recreation of the Nat Moore helicopter third-down conversion against the Jets at Giants Stadium, where the Jets were inexplicably playing second fiddle to the Giants....
