Big Sky Expansion

If mocking possible Big Sky additions has already happened in the past, and there has already been a thread about it, then I'm sorry for bringing this up again. Honestly, how on Earth am I suppose to know whats been going on when I barely just joined. However, I do like hearing other FCS/Big Sky fan's opinions about possible additions to the Sky. There aren't that many western schools that could be added, and evidently, you all are the experts, so wouldn't the members of this forum be the ones with the best and brightest opinons. And I serious think those teams (Texas State) that want to join the Sun Belt should reconsider and think about a better move to more competitive conference BIG SKY..

Hey man that's why a few said you get a pass on this. I like that you jumped right in. I'll tell you what, I'll go see if I can find a discussion or two for you to read and I'll post the topic link here for you. I can't tell if you're joking about the TXST comment or not but I think you should know that would never work. The Big Sky ain't gonna have a footprint that covers 1/2 the US. You have to think of the travel involved for ALL SPORTS, not just football.

Thanks for the welcome fellas, I appreciate it... Sorry for being soo ignorant with this thread ! Yeah, a Texas State addition would be absolutely idiotic due to travel, but they aren't to bad athletically.

I thought I heard doug, I have been wrong (happens frequently), after the UNC addition, talk about adding three more teams bringing the total to 12 teams and then breaking the conference into two divisions; a mountain and pacific. I'm sure he was just throwing out possibilities for the conference, more so than actualities or maybe I'm just miss quoting him.

Just to throw it out there...I'd really like to see Cal Poly join the Sky.

We've went over the splitting of the conference if there was to be a break up of the GWFC and I would like to see Cal Poly in it but I don't think I've seen any plans on it. The Big Sky is a fairly close knit group and the conference is probably set where it is right now for quite a while.

Out WEST is where the Best are, and of course thats the Big Sky!!! However, as an intern I did go to a JMU game, and had a great time. Nice atmospher for a college football game. Yeah, I agree...I don't see the Sky changing much in the future, unless some teams leave for bigger grounds, but I hope that doesn't happen too soon, I like the old-time rivlarys and the history between the original members. Actually, if anyone should rejoin it should be Idaho...Will never happen.
I still have my fingers crossed for Cal Poly, but...Well...

Cal Poly to the Big Sky more than likely will not happen in the near future. The Big Sky likes being one of the few conferences to have the same members for both football and basketball. Cal Poly would be a good fit for football (and would get the Mustangs out of the Great West), but they seem to like being with all the other California schools in DI basketball (the Big West). Unless this thinking changes either way, Cal Poly to the Big Sky will not happen.

I doubt that any of the Cali schools (UC-Davis and Cal Poly) will join the Big Sky as several people pointed out, they love the Big West for every other sport. Personally i think if any teams have a chance to join would be the Dakotas and SUU which if splitting the conference would still be kinda a bitch on travel but would still be just as bad as it is now.
Personally i think what is going to happen is that a few of the Cali Schools talking about getting football again will and they will join the Great West, along with Utah Valley as they are really thinking about getting started on a football team. I still think SUU should move into the sky though, better fit then UNC since there could be another big rivalry game out of it!

The CAA is going to "take over" the BSC so we have a north, and south, and now a west division...

We'll most likely strip off the cupcakes and keep the class schools...

Well that's a pair to draw to. I went to the likky story on my home yesterday to buy a bottle of Tito's Vodka and I actually spent a minute or two looking at/for the Scotch due to your posts Col. and I didn't buy any but for me to even look at it is a kudo to you. I actually thought about buying a very small bottle of something but didn't want to spend a bunch on something that I know nothing about what's "good" and what is not so I passed. I thougt if all of the stuff tastes like Pine needles then I didn't need to waste the money. The last glass I had about 10 yrs. ago was Pine Needle extact or something cuz I wasn't hooked on it.
