AGS Poll Results 11/4/2019

Post by kalm »

Here's this week's AGS Poll. Still the best human poll out there IMHO. Professor Chaos on AGS does yeoman's work in help putting it together as well as a weekly article breaking it all down.
Here's this week's poll article: http://thefcswedge.com/?p=5058&preview=true

My thoughts:
Come. On. Voters!!!! Kennesaw St the consensus #22 and Monmouth the consensus #23??? What more does Monmouth have have to do? I'm fine with Kennesaw St at #22... it's a bit high for my tastes but it's tough to find a lot of worth teams for that spot anyway but Monmouth is criminally underrated right now.
Montana St and SEMO moving up as much as they did was odd to me. They hopped over some teams like Princeton, Dartmouth, and CCSU that didn't make sense to me since neither Montana St or SEMO picked up wins that big and the teams they hopped over (maybe with the exception of Dartmouth) didn't look that bad picking up wins of their own.
Speaking of CCSU their #15 ranking is the highest ranking ever in the AGS Poll for a team from the NEC. Congrats to the Blue Devils!

Squeakers over Lafayette and Wagner don't exactly blow up your skirt.

KSU shouldn't be ranked.

I think that is more the point - if either are going to be ranked, it should be Monmouth.

Agreed but IMO Monmouth is about where they should be.

It's not as good as it used to be. They get after you if you don't vote along party lines. FAMU is #1 in the MEAC, and is behind #2 in the MEAC and they just beat them recently.

You mean the poll? Criticism is what drives it and sets it apart. You are compelled to justify your decisions. Or you can choose to stay off the poll threads.

-MEAC like you said.
-KSU being in front of Monmouth
-VU being in front of UNH.

Probably a couple other examples but I’ve seen enough to know its another worthless poll. 2nd week in Nov and people can’t even get it right..

I know I used to ask people to explain inconsistencies. 9 times out of 10 the voter admitted they weren't really paying attention. Folks like Horney and Kalm who thought Monmouth had beaten Villanova. ;)

That still happens, the admin is still good. IMO, it taints the poll when too many try to align themselves with what they think people will like vs how they really should vote.

What you can defend is how you should vote. If you know folks are actually watching, you pay more attention.

There were a lot of folks upset with the "homer rule" I instituted, but it made sense IMO.

Gil...there are 400 weekly replies arguing over everything from the eyeball test to SoS from SCSU to UND. The homers and illogical get called out. Not that much getting along on there.

But honestly, there as many rational Bizon fans as otherwise and to your credit, you are one of the best. :thumb:

That could be one reason, or having UND in the poll.

Admin does ask people to explain inconsistencies and they do get called out if the voter posts their poll. I believe they were also pretty vocal in asking people to carefully consider where they placed Monmouth and Kennesaw. But people still screwed it up. This year and this week in particular were not the best for the AGS poll but it wasn't from lack of effort by the admins. It's also a strange year in that H2Hs have been more at odds with total bodies of work (Wofford/Samford) and the CAA is a snakepit below JMU.

MAQA - putting the Q into qrazy qanon qult qonspiracy theories since 2015.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.
