I think it means a rigged lottery is not the most rational way to plan for retirement. Or something like that.89Hen wrote:OK, I've read this four times and I have no idea what you're trying to say Z.Chizzang wrote:Here's the problem at it's core:

Nobody else has the secret spiritual information

Stand and watch who's buying lottery tickets at the gas station for a few minutes
you'll find your audience - each one will tell you they have "special numbers"

The last time I played tennis was about 10 years ago. I charged the net and my opponent hit a nice lob over me. I popped my calf muscle changing direction and then took the lord's name in vain.Chizzang wrote:I can sell you winning tickets to heaven... I have the secret spiritual informationkalm wrote:

Not scary at all. Confusing, yes. But that's because of you, not me. I get that you hate televangelists. But you don't have many of my friends pegged who go to church every week.Chizzang wrote:89Hen wrote: Unrelated side note? Your whole story is pretty much unrelated.

Although there are times that I have doubts I do believe in a "Prime Mover." I don't follow an organized religion and I don't go to church. I think Osteen and his like are snake oil salesman and don't give money to any church. I feel closest to the "Prime Mover" not in a church or other building but when I'm outside enjoying nature.Chizzang wrote:The Church of winning lottery tickets..?89Hen wrote: Not scary at all. It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

I don't think of faith as a rational thing. I respect those who have it and those who don't. Their belief or lack of belief is personal and none of my business.89Hen wrote:LumpedUNI88 wrote:

I will take occasional cracks at catholics but that's probably because my step mom was catholic and she didn't think that the ten commandments applied when dealing with non-catholics.

Amazing. A famous study that's been cited countless times makes mistakes that would get you failed in high school statistics. They basically draw conclusions from the proportions in samples without doing standard practice of determining how unlikely you are to get the data when there is no sex bias.

it's a belief just like any other belief - if its stupid it should be subject to the same scrutiny as any other
This idea that faith is sacred is just another way of short circuiting the discussion

It wouldn't be faith if there was evidence and there is a difference between sacred and respect. I might not hold someone else's faith as sacred but that doesn't mean that I can't respect it.Chizzang wrote:Evidence based definite is different than mysterious definite89Hen wrote: I anyone here purporting that notion?
