CAA 2019 Offseason/Preseason Thread
Of course the big news is UD’s 60 million & athletic center renovations (which were announced late 2017), and the removal of the iconic piss wall. But that was well chronicled on here this past Spring. In other news.
Legal troubles from this past Feb:
Three New Hampshire football players arrested on felony riot charges
https://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.c ... t-charges/
The LB Quinlen Dean is a 2 time 2nd team All CAA..
UMaine football star arrested, charged with domestic violence assault
Running back Ramon Jefferson, who led the Black Bears in rushing last fall, is also charged with criminal mischief.
https://www.pressherald.com/2019/02/07/ ... e-assault/
Jefferson, as an rFr last season, became the 1st Maine Fr ever to rush for 1,000 yards in a season..

Re: CAA 2019 Offseason/Preseason Thread
Transferring out:
UR got hammered, losing 3 starters to the state of Illinois.
-Dejon Brisset, one of the top WR in the CAA, lost to Illinois as a grad transfer. Was a 1st team All CAA 2017 & an NFL prospect..missed most of last season due to injury.
https://www.richmond.com/sports/plus/sp ... 9850d.html
https://writingillini.com/2019/03/18/il ... ver-corps/
-Kevin Johnson, starting QB from the 1st half of last season, transferred to WIU as a grad transfer.
-Deontez Thompson, a starting RB, also transferred to WIU as grad transfer. Thompson was a Fr AA in 2016, rushing for over 1k yards, and a pre season AA 2017, but got injured. He didn’t do much this past season in a 1/2 doz starts.

CAA teams’ G5/P5 transfers. The ones I was able to come up with from each CAA teams’ Winter & Spring & Summer news releases, 2019 roster, the transfer portal, and what’s been posted on AGS. Might be missing a couple. Current count at 35. Seems to be more league wide than I can ever remember.

Re: CAA 2019 Offseason/Preseason Thread
Delaware needs all those LB's - Colby Reeder out for the season with back surgery. Expect the defense to take a step back or two this fall.

Updated the transfer list. As MaineJeff pointed out on AGS, they got a RB from Buffalo who was a 2017 starter.

So, is it JMU and everybody else again in ‘19? Or is there someone up to the challenge this year?

Re: CAA 2019 Offseason/Preseason Thread
JMU gets a commitment for 2020 from Lorton, VA’s Zion Dayne. The son of Ron Dayne. Yes, THAT Ron Dayne, the leading rusher in NCAA history with 7125. Ironically the 240 lb Zion isn’t a RB, but a defensive end...
Came across an interesting article when looking up stuff about his dad:
http://www.iconoclasticallybombastic.co ... ron-dayne/
A 4 time All American, won the Doak Walker, Maxwell, Walter Camp, Heisman, everything a RB could possibly win.

Re: CAA 2019 Offseason/Preseason Thread
JMU announces it TV games. All 6 home televised.
StFU: NBC Sports Washington
Morgan St: NBC Sports Washington
VU: MASN
TU: MASN & SNY
UNH: MASN & SNY
UR: MASN & SNY

CAA has the league wide streaming deal with FloSports, but as far as TV, every school is on its own. JMU didn’t even want the Flo deal, since they Flo has exclusive streaming rights & JMU would rather stream home games on ‘Madizone’. JMU acquiesced to taking 2 home games on Flo (Morgan State and Villanova). All 4 of their away CAA games are on Flo.
