To get that pendulum to swing in their direction, the Dems need to attract new people, not just energize their base...

Do you think they did anything positive over the last few weeks to attract those new people???

Every indication, based on the Senate races, is they repulsed more people than they attracted...
If nothing else, Trump taught us that repulsive behavior and going negative don’t work.

Signed "Bart," of course. But you know, it's probably not the same Bart his best friend wrote about in the memoirs and Brett had no idea about in the hearings.

Face it, this guy is a serial liar. Aggressive drunk. Sexual predator. And entitled bitch.
You are sooo wrong. Anyone who grew up in the 80’s knows that boofing means farting.

Interesting all the stories coming out about Kavanaugh. Alcohol and drug abuse are related to a lot of things I'm hearing. I also hear similar stories about Al Franken and his drug induced early days in St Louis Park area of Minnesota. Nothing from Franken's early days got him in trouble, but his behavior continued until he was finally caught. Time for Trump to find another choice, and stop the Kavanaugh chitshow.

Anyone know if there will be any teeth to Katz and Bromwich being referred to the Bar Association because they apparently didn't make it clear to Ford she could testify in private and they would fly to her?

They allegedly interjected their politics into her case.

Sounds as though Flake and Collins are both going to be yes votes at this point after having read the additional FBI report (Flake said there's nothing new to corroborate the claims and Collins said the report was very thorough - in contrast to Feinstein saying the report was incomplete). If the GOP already has the votes then they'll probably get the two uncommitted Dem votes as well, leaving Stanley Matthews as the closest confirmation to the SCOTUS.

Yeah, but the election loses a lot of meaning with Kavanaugh going through.

I think they will drop it like a bad habit once he gets voted in. It would be dumb for them to continue if there is no new corroborating evidence. It would potentially hurt Dem candidates to beat that dead horse.

You're talking about News Agencies that rightly accused Trump of lying
then proceeded to lie themselves (routinely) about the very same man they accused of lying

Well, you're already starting to hear it that perhaps the Dems overreached and the reason why the excitement factor for the upcoming election is now at least even between the two parties (something the Dems had the clear advantage on prior to this) is because of reaction to this nomination and the confirmation happenings. I never though the Senate was going to switch parties anyway, but if the GOP holds onto the House now as well I think you have to point to this confirmation process as the reason why. Trump seems to thrive the more controversy there is, it's the real life application of trolling on display here and apparently it works for him in this political environment.

The question is if Trumps trolling would be as effective with out his use of twitter?

Without twitter, his comments would be diluted so to speak through the traditional media outlets and he would not be able to directly speak his mind. Twitter gives him a voice and direct access to the population that hasn't to my knowledge been done before. So if he did not have twitter (and that access), would he be as successful in energizing his base (or trolling the other side)?

Can you give some examples of media entities lying about Trump? Remember, there are two elements to establishing that something is a lie. First, it must be completely confirmed as false. Second, it must be known that the person and/or entity that proffered it knew it was false when they proffered it.

Also, it can't be something where a media entity cites a source, anonymous or otherwise, saying something that is later found to be false if they are accurately reporting what the source said.

With all that in mind, can you provide some examples?

I'm sure there must be some. But even if there are, I think the picture the media have painted about Trump is basically true.

I think the Democrats were between a rock and a hard place because if they did not fight hard against the Kavanaugh nomination they risked dampening the enthusiasm on their side. They did not recruit Blasey-Ford. That was a wild card thrown into the mix. And I don't think Feinstein would've revealed her. I think that someone else Blasey-Ford confided in tipped the media off and the cat got out of the bag. Once the cat was out of the bag the Democrats had to make a big fight of it.

At this point I don't think things have changed all THAT much with respect to the House. The RealClearPolitics average of polling on the generic Congressional ballot over time is depicted by the image below. As you can see, support for both Democrats and for Republicans has increased recently. Undecideds are taking sides. It's not a big enough gap to be confident that the Democrats will take the House due to the gerrymandering. But there's a chance. And that's been the situation for a long time now.

I do think the Democrat chances to take the Senate have been diminished, but those were never good to begin with.
