I called it for Trump in July of 2016.

I’m now calling it for the Republicans in the mid-terms. Not that they won’t lose seats but they’ll lose so few it will be considered a victory. Moderates have TDS fatigue. Trump’s policies and economy have negatively affected very few so far. It’s a troll culture led by a master and his obnoxiousness and dumbassery aren’t as bothersome to centrists as the left would like to think.

Plus, the same Democratic establishment who’ve done very little other than lose over the past decade, are still in control.

Excellent post, and you’ll get full props if your predictions prevail. We have become a troll culture, and we have several Billy Goat trolls on this board (JSO, Trips, Jizzang to name three). I think the GOP will lose the House but not by much, and that the Senate will stay Republican. :twocents:

What is a "billy goat troll?" Also trolling isn't my style and if it was, I'd be way more subtle about it.

It's not my problem this place has become a conservative circle-jerk. :coffee:

You’re a Millennial. You wouldn’t know subtlety if it kicked you in the nuts.

Also, to expand your frame of reference, Google “Three Billy Goats Gruff” and give us a full report.

And I agree with IT here. Excellent post. Dem's "Blue Wave" is turning into a slack tide, losing seats they were supposed to win. It's always a tough uphill battle when things are going so swimmingly in the economy, peoples' 401k's, jobs, etc., etc. People vote with their pocketbooks.

I agree with Kalm. Republicans lose seats in the House but I think they retain control. They will expand their majority in the Senate by at least 3. The economy is doing well and most people are noticing. I also think this mess with Kavanaugh is backfiring on the Dems. It's uniting the Republican base and will motivate them to vote. When Kavanaugh is confirmed it is going to demoralize the Dem base even further and they aren't going to vote or they will vote 3rd party because the Dems aren't accomplishing what they want (failing to acknowledge that they can't).

And as the Dems lose, they get more and more violent, more and more vitriolic, more and more splintered, more and more unhinged. It's like watching an entire party descend through Dantes' 9 circles of hell.

I think the GOP keeps the Senate, but I still think they lose the House - probably won't lose it by much (which, as you say, could be the "victory" they talk about, but a loss is a loss).

I agree, people aren't hurting right now economically, on the contrary, most are enjoying the good times. And yes, it's regardless of the buffoon in the White House. Like I replied in another thread, he's a complete idiot and a master troller, which in this day and age fits right in, and he's not bungled the economy (possibly yet, but we'll see).

The Dems are still rudderless. Yes, the image of Pelosi as party leader is not a good image. Heck, Patrick Leahy is approaching 50 years in the Senate (I haven't even been alive as long as Leahy has been in the Senate) and Feinstein is 85 years old. I know the GOP has their share of old folks too, but they're not as solely visible as the party leaders as these other folks are. And the Dems need to decide how they're different from the GOP - I know that's shocking to the ears of both Dem and GOP partisans on the board, but there's not terribly much that separates the two parties now other than the shouting and histrionics. If the Dems want to be full progressive, let's play up the national health care and national family leave and guaranteed minimum income and so on. I'm not saying I want those things necessarily, but at least stand for something and run with it. Being the party that is just "angry as hell" about the GOP isn't a position, it's just emotion.

(btw, I'm probably voting a Dem for the House in my newly designed district - the 11th where Dean is the Dem and some guy with two first names is the GOP guy - and I'm likely picking Libertarian in the Senate where Casey, who will be in the Senate for 11 years now and has done absolutely nothing, is going up against a Trump guy that I can't in good conscious vote for).

Well, if they lose the House by even one seat that will be enough to have at least some sanity restored because there will be at least one half the Legislative Branch without its head up Trump's rectum while acting in a totally corrupt manner. There would be a big difference if, for instance, that sycophant Nunes is no longer chair of the House Intelligence Committee and instead we have Democrats able to actually push investigation.

I don't think there is sufficient confidence that that will happen though. I hope it does. But it's a close call.

I like this National Voter Registration Day. It got two of my co-workers registered that didn't realize you had to register to vote (both had never voted before in their lives).

Both are liberal and dislike Trump, but didn't care much about politics before. Thanks Trump. :thumb:

edit: we really need an automatic voter registration system when you become eligible.
