So what you have established is that if she was a Conk, she wouldn't have come forward...

She was at Holton Arms when the assault allegedly occurred

<BIG FUVCKING EDIT>

You know what? My wife went to Holton

So I find this woman credible

My logic is no goofier than you or any other liberal's

BTW

She has some nerve describing Kavanaugh and his buddies as being at some elite boys school when she was at Holton... and thats all I have to say about that
What I established is that she was a 15 year old kid drinking at a party 37 years (or so) ago (she can't even remember the year). She might be a credible person, but there is absolutely no evidence and nobody can corroborate her claims. From what I remember, nobody can or will even confirm there was a party that night.
Could you cite chapter and verse what HS parties you went to on what dates? The whole fucking thing would be comical if it wasn't so ridiculous.

To be fair, most parties I only remember small snapshots of. But I do remember some significant moments at parties. And I think it is possible that a traumatic event, as the one portrayed, could be remembered because it was probably played over and over in her head for quite a while.

There's more of a chance of the Senate going more strongly in the GOP's direction than it is the GOP losing the Senate. The GOP will lose the House, I think there's little doubt about that, but if this nomination drags over into the general election that could even end up in doubt because now you'd have a reason for GOP voters to come out en masse. But regardless, the very likeliehood is that the House goes narrowly to the Dems and the GOP holds the same majority, or more, in the Senate.
It could happen but it will require shitload of cash - at a time when the largest GOP donor in Ohio just switched parties and guys like Flake and Sasse are positioning themselves to be the phoenix wing of whatever is left after the collapse of the GOP. The same market research that put Nike in CK's corner applies to the GOP - they are the past, not the future

But ultimately there are just a couple things to consider here...

This only ends in a pure he said - she said scenario. It will come down to that, and the Dems will choose to believe her and the Reps will choose to believe him. At that point, whether to continue with Kavanaugh will be a political decision for the GOP.

The other thing to consider, which JSO touched on, is does it matter what he did as a teenager? Surely there will be plenty of people who say it does, but are they a quorum?

This doesn't have anything to do with what happened at a party 30 years ago and everything to do with payback for Merrick Garland not receiving a hearing. If the Ds can stall until after the election, payback will be a bitch, especially if the Rs lose the Senate too, which they now have about an even chance of doing. Not to mention Baldy's head exploding when I'm right yet again. And well well well, as we speak it looks like none other than Jeff Flake is thinking that this needs looking into....so long Brett...we hardly knew ye..
If they have the vote before the November election, and senator heidkampf from ND votes against him, I am sure she will loss her seat to her opponent.
The are other lefty senators who could lose to righty senators over this.

That's what makes this tricky for Dems as much as the GOP. I think the House is a lost cause for the GOP - just too much momentum for the Dems and just too much Trump for the GOP to overcome. But the Senate is the spot where the Dems are playing a whole lot of defense this time around with so many incumbents in places where the GOP will likely run strong. It would be a victory for the Dems to keep the Senate where it is. This late-in-the-game Anita Hill moment that will happen soon with the Kavanaugh confirmation is going to put a lot of Senators on the spot - the Dems on the Judiciary Committee will be going all out in the hearings to come, especially based on what they've already done, the GOP's on the Committee will be trying to be tough without falling into an Arlen Specter moment, and Senators up for election this year will be weighing their votes versus their electoral chances in November, which isn't far away. Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if the GOP increases their Senate majority by a small amount after this. Should make for a fascinating, if ugly, next two years leading up to the elections in 2020.

It still pretty comical anyway - and clearly the Ds are using the event to stall in hopes of having more power after the election. But it was the Rs grasping desperately at any straw that might save their drowning Whitewater investigation who decided that an unrelated blowjob was fair game in the absence of anything else - despite Mellon-Scaife devoting his life and fortune to investigating the Clintons. So now its payback time - if possible. Which it might just be if they can hold out until after the election. I don't see why they're in such hurry that they don't want to know more about somebody nominated by a President who has in less than two years had five of his appointees/cabinet/employees plead guilty to felonies. To me that would be a red flag for anybody he recommended for anything, let alone the SCOTUS. Forking jesus, people,.... :ohno:

Oh please, it has been a model of efficiency compared to Ken Starr's bludgeoning approach, all eight years of it.

Not only that, Manafort's money is going to pay for the entire investigation to date with $26,000,000 left over! :notworthy:

How does it get substantiated? I'm sure she's a perfectly normal person - she has an advanced degree, doesn't appear to have too many skeletons in her closet other than being politically active. Kavanaugh seems pretty normal too, doesn't have any track record of this behavior, and the only negatives going for him is he's a conservative judge and was selected by Trump (although it's likely he would've been picked by any other GOP President). The event happened when both were minors and at least 36 years ago, although the exact year is in doubt. She said he did it. He said he didn't. Other than political drama and other than more accusers coming forward, how does this get substantiated?

That's a different question.

For the sake of argument lets say that proof or not she comes across as credible and Kavanaugh gives the appearance of hiding something.

Put her on the stand, er, in the Senate, and let Kavanaugh confront his accuser. Then thank her very much for coming and have a vote.

Innocent or not, the damage is done. The GOP should find a different candidate; there are other qualified conservative judges. The GOP further alienating itself from voters is not what it needs right now.
