It took so long because the FBI's Office of Personal Responsibility (Candace Will) that is in charge of dolling out penalties was a Mueller appointee. Probably a hillary supporter to boot.

Explains why Deputy Director Bowdich had to overrule her initial hand slap penalty of a demotion and suspension.

Now all we need is jellybean to chime in about everyone involved being a repub.

BTW, still waiting on that Trump-Russia collusion. :coffee:

Any time you put something out there that impugns the integrity of the organization - even in perception - you open yourself to discipline, period.

If Stzrzcwcx's texts had been about a RICO case involving some gangster, he'd have been on the hook for two things - 1) the defense attorney would be able to impeach any criminal case, and b) his security clearance would be jeopardized by his affair with the "dont go loaded for bear" lawyer gal.

The FBI bureaucracy would have fired him much more quickly than it actually happened here... precisely because of the perception of political motivation that exists in this case

Dont weep for him, JSO- he has his retirement, bennies, GoFundMe, and inevitable victim's tell all book on the horizon

I'm not weeping for him. For one thing he is very well aware of the Hatch Act. I said I think I understand why the FBI had to do this. I'm just saying I think political considerations were involved here. It's not a question of whether or not there would be discipline. The internal entity did recommend discipline. But the FBI went beyond the discipline recommended by the internal entity.

Do you not think political/public perception considerations were involved?
I think his apparent bias against Trump were obvious by his text messages, regardless of what some independent party says. I think the perception that someone with such a documented bias maintain a role in the FBI as an investigator will poison the well. CID is right, 100%.

You know what? I’ll expand on this a little bit.

This is what I don’t like about some of those preening motherfvckers at the upper levels of the FBI and a number of the other Federal agencies. They go to Glencoe and then their own academies and they get told they are the cream of the crop and they take that sh1t to heart. They sh1t all over local LE in the task forces (guys that are ten times the cops they are) and they have unearned 50 lb chips on their shoulders.

There are some great, stellar agents at the FBI (I know, because I trained them as cops and then encouraged them to go there)... but there is a very large cabal in the upper middle to top leadership that are leftover cocksuckers from the days when Jimmeh Carter’s crowd thought it was a good idea to load them up with UVA educated lawyers and Yankee accountants to go after the RICO cases (instead of street cops). They have colossal poor judgment, and they think the norms and rules of integrity in LE don’t apply to them. The Waco and Ruby Ridge “missteps” were brought to us when these guys were SACs.

Strowicz is the scion of those assholes who are mostly (thankfully) retired now, but their protégés are still there. And they got to the top by sucking ass and basically writing memos (and now texts). I haven’t looked at his record, but I will guarantee he doesn’t have single big case multiple conviction to his name. I guarantee he doesn’t. Because he’s a bureaucratic cunt, not a cop. And he has poor judgment. Go figure.

90% of the FBI people who know him hate his fvcking guts. Ask me how I know.

BTW I’m grinning, smoking a Partagas #2 with a wee dram of Lagavulin thinking about Treep and Jelly furiously googling away at “Strock major case multiple convictions”

Glencoe is stupid.

I get asked by colleagues all the time, “Erik, why didn’t you go to DS instead of FSO?”

Because I’m old, fat, and I was a sergeant for YEARS in a mid sized PD. The last thing I want to do is go PT with a bunch of 20 something’s in the Georgia heat. And they’re all cunts anyway

Didn't you work under Mullens?

Our mutual acquaintance that decided to open fire on a woman trying to run him over at the intersection of 7 and 61 - that guy is a cunt. He's now policing MUSC.

The Charleston County guys were pretty cool - they were well trained, prior military (Army and USMC, IIRC)

Since Trump is revoking Brennan's security clearance, figured I'd drop this for entertainment purposes:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Richard Burr (R-NC), Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement on comments made in The New York Times by former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) John Brennan:

“Director Brennan’s recent statements purport to know as fact that the Trump campaign colluded with a foreign power. If Director Brennan’s statement is based on intelligence he received while still leading the CIA, why didn’t he include it in the Intelligence Community Assessment released in 2017? If his statement is based on intelligence he has seen since leaving office, it constitutes an intelligence breach. If he has some other personal knowledge of or evidence of collusion, it should be disclosed to the Special Counsel, not The New York Times.

“If, however, Director Brennan’s statement is purely political and based on conjecture, the president has full authority to revoke his security clearance as head of the Executive Branch.”
https://www.burr.senate.gov/press/relea ... n-brennan-

BTW, maybe Cid can answer this, but why the fvck do people who leave intel get to keep their clearances? Seems rather absurd and a liability...you know, because of all these Russians everywhere these days...

Especially in Brennan's case. He's not assisting the Government in any fashion where he might need it.

Russian oligarch Deripaska comes into the picture now. Some believe in exchange for Deripaska's work in developing the Steele dossier, he got a new Visa to the USA. A little quid quo pro.

Exactly. Everything we've seen shows the Democrats working with the Russians, but it's okay because Trump isn't an insider.

Seems like once anyone leaves government service, their security clearance should be taken. They are no longer working/serving there so why do they need it?

https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/19/politics ... index.html
Rudy Giuliani, President Donald Trump's attorney, said Sunday that "truth isn't truth" when explaining that he won't let special counsel Robert Mueller rush Trump into testifying because he doesn't want investigators to trap the President into a lie.

"When you tell me that, you know, he should testify because he's going to tell the truth and he shouldn't worry, well, that's so silly because it's somebody's version of the truth. Not the truth," Giuliani told NBC's Chuck Todd on Sunday morning during "Meet the Press."

"Truth is truth," Todd said in response.

"No, no, it isn't truth," Giuliani said. "Truth isn't truth. The President of the United States says, "I didn't ..."

"Truth isn't truth?" Todd interjected. "Mr. Mayor, do you realize, what ... I think this is going to become a bad meme."
