Up to 9,000 Barrels of fine Kentucky Bourbon May have been lost in the partial collapse of a rickhouse in Bardstown...
Emergency officials say a large section of a bourbon storage warehouse has collapsed at a distillery in Kentucky.

Nelson County Emergency Management spokesman Milt Spalding says about 9,000 barrels filled with aging bourbon were affected Friday at the Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown. It happened around 11 a.m.

Spalding says there were no injuries inside the structure, which was holding about 18,000 barrels.

He says there’s a large pile of barrels where the collapse occurred and officials are trying to determine if any whiskey spilled.

Spalding says about half of the structure is still standing. He also said, during a press conference, that there were no strong storms in the area during the collapse.

Good read making the strong case that the notion humans are creating an entire new epoch is a form of narcissism. I've been saying this for a while.

Trump at a campaign rally in Great Falls, MT:

“But let’s say I’m debating Pocahontas, I’ll do this. I promise you I’ll do this, you know those little kits they sell on television for $2? Learn your heritage. I’m going to get one of those little kits and in the middle of the debate, when she proclaims she’s of Indian heritage — because her mother said she has high cheekbones, that’s her only evidence. We will take that little kit, we have to do it gently because we’re in the "Me Too" generation, we have to be very gentle. We will very gently take that kit and we will slowly toss it, hoping it doesn’t hit her and injure her arm, even though it only weighs probably 2 oz. And we will say, ‘I will give you a million dollars, paid for by Trump, to your favorite charity if you take the test and it shows you’re an Indian. And we’ll see what she does. I have a feeling she will say no but we will hold it for the debates.

Pocahontas, I apologize to you. To the fake Pocahontas, I won’t.”

I saw some excerpts of that rally and honestly my thought was:

"What kind of idiot goes to a Trump rally? Who would take time out of their day, fight traffic, get into a big crowd, such and such, to listen to a buffoon like that?"

CNN..
We ARE living in a national emergency right now. The fact that we've got enough people in this country who would vote for somebody like Trump to create a situation in which he is President is a serious problem. It's not a small thing and it should cause any sensible person to be seriously concerned about the future of the country.

Except, well, I WILL say that the ray of hope is that the demographic groups involved are shrinking so there's a good chance that it's just a really bad thing that happened but which does not reflect what will continue over time.

I’ve got news for you JSO

If the Democratic Party doubles down on Teh Stupid, they will remain in the wilderness

If you want to see what the equivalent of stupid Trump voters look like on the left, look no further than the Abolish ICE protests... many Dem politicians are feeling compelled to shift left to accommodate these people - and they are the EXACT mirror image of a swath of Trump voters - populist and low information.

The Democrat Party is in a different position than the Republican Party because of the demographic trends we've talked about so much. The Democrat Party may do things to change the timing of its eventual rise to total dominance. But as long as something doesn't happen to change the paradigm by which non Whites vote overwhelmingly Democrat the Democrat Party achieving total dominance is, as the cliche goes, "not a matter of if but rather a matter of when."

Republicans are in the position of having to change that very stubborn paradigm. The pattern has been in place for at least 43 years going back to the first exit polls reported at https://ropercenter.cornell.edu/polls/u ... ups-voted/.

There's also the fact that the younger generation....even younger Whites...are voting more strongly Democrat now than they were back in the beginning of that period represented by the exit polls.

The major party with the bigger problem in the long term is clearly the Republican Party.

What he's doing is destroying the conservative/Republican brand. There is nothing he is doing that can't be nixed by the Democrats when they achieve dominance. That includes nixing a conservative majority on the Supreme Court. And he is destroying any chance that the Democrats eventually achieving dominance can be avoided.

Meanwhile he is doing serious damage to the institutions that protect us from Autocracy. And he's seriously diminishing the United States' standing in the world.
