It will be interesting to see how home grown rec weed is treated. That’s a potential equalizer.

I say the tipping point will come very soon - sooner than you may think.... the point where the money's in getting 18 year olds to smoke pot is more profitable than just producing cigarettes... when that happens, you'll see those anti-pot campaigns replaced by Joe Camel smoking a fat spliff

As for NC... it isn't Jeezus fighting against pot, it's RJR

Where are there $20 bags of weed? That's gotta be less than an eighth. That can't be good stuff. The good stuff is at least $40-$60.

In DE, a pack of Newports now costs about $7.40. That’s approximately 37 cents per cig. When the cost of a marihuana cigarette reaches that level, we’ll be at another tipping point. :twocents:

Relative addiction costs matter.

:suspicious: What are you talking about? Is that why in the past 2 years SC REPUBLICANS have been chipping at way at Marijuana laws, conducting research and now has a bill that when the next General Session begins, has a strong chance of passing? NC/SC are Red States for sure, but they are charting a path towards decriminalization/legalizing. It began with industrial hemp, then medical marijuana. NC is about to decriminalize it. The same fight is going on in Tennessee.

And it's the Republicans that are fighting for it.

"Fight till their dying days?" :ohno:  That's obviously false since it's happening. It's slow..but it's making it's way. A poll released last week shows 80% of South Carolinians are in favor. Republicans are doing the right thing and are getting ahead of it -finally!

Really? I think of it more as purple, or maybe magenta..

NC on the one hand:
-2012 narrowly voted for Romey (50.4%); 2016 narrowly voted for Trump (49.8%)
-2 conk senators
-10 conk/3 donk House of Reps (much of imbalance due to gerrymandering)
-Conks control both houses state legislature
-conk Lt Gov

NC on the other hand:
-2008 voted for Obama (49.7%)
-Donk Gov
-Donk Attorney Gen
JMU Football:
4 Years FBS: 40-11 (.784). Highest winning percentage & least losses of all of G5 2022-2025.
Sun Belt East Champions: 2022, 2023, 2025
Sun Belt Champions: 2025
Top 25 ranked: 2022, 2023, 2025
CFP: 2025

Book it - NC and/or SC are within 5 years of medical marijuana, decriminalization and possibly legalization (that might be within 10). But we are closer today than we ever have been.

I don't doubt the "closer now than ever" part
But people get nervous when it comes time to actually pull the trigger
and RJR will be dropping terrifying advertising bombs in NC and SC when that day arrives

RJR spent 15 million on counter-advertising in Colorado and 30 million in Washington State
Imagine what they'll spend terrifying people in their own back yard

I have no doubt. A lot of people have mellowed on the idea of weed. Anecdotal but - my mother used to be hard set against drugs. Now - she'll openly say weed should be legal. It's only a matter of time.

That can't be true. Jeff "Kreacher the house elf" Sessions (continuing the Harry Potter theme that started with She Who Cannot Be Named/Hildamort) says that marijuana is a gateway drug.

If only Jeff Sessions and Hilary Clinton could become the faces of The two main parties
The rule would be all Republican posters would have to have Jeff on them
and all Democrat posters would have to have Hilary on them

FOREVER !!!

as a long standing reminder of the absolute stupidity arrogance and avarice of each party (forever more)
