It was her Willie Horton moment that actually lost her the election. Kinda like how when McCain picked Palin and that doomed him. Or Mitt Romney's "binders full of women". And although some of those were just flubs, in Hillary's case, I think she really meant it. Heck, she even threw white women under the bus after the election with the comment that they only vote the way the men in their life want them to vote. I can see why JSO loves her so much, she's almost as delusional as he is now.

No need to argue it - he called more than half of Trump's supporters, and in his words "might put the proportion quite a bit above that", deplorables. I just don't write off that many Americans as deplorable and remember, Hillary also used the term "irredeemable" to describe those deplorables, which I'm sure JSO would be more than happy to sign on to as well since he's all things Hillary now. I just couldn't disagree more. Those folks are citizens, they are voters, and no matter how much you disagree with them you just don't write them off as something sub-human.

I didn't vote for Trump, but I do recognize that these are fellow-citizens and they need to be part of the population to be won over if you want to improve things in this country. In that, Hillary and JSO were completely wrong to write them off and to continue to write them off. Why do they, and apparently you kalmie, hate Americans so much? :coffee:

Hey, numbnut: Personally, I didn't vote for Trump, so he wasn't talking about me to begin with. The fact he sunk to the progressive baseline of identity politics and associates anyone who DIDN'T vote for Hillary as "deplorable" is the problem, and the primary reason why donks won't win houses, senates, governorships, or presidencies any time soon. The just can't shut their whore mouths and can't seem to grasp that just because someone else doesn't think like them doesn't make them the devil.

Question - don't you resort to "identity politics" when you automatically label millennial's as liberals, leftists, etc..? :coffee: That's a sincere question.

She's the donk gift that just keeps on giving. And Michelle Obama is no better. They just. can't. stop. talking. (honestly, in that respect they are no better than Trump)   And every time they open their mouths, more and more people are turned off from their sexist, bigoted bullshit.

I'm sure we can find a post where you imply millennial's are liberal/leftist/antifa/or something.

But i'm just asking a question. We all resort to identity politics in some form and from time to time.

No need because, as I said, it was a fairly reasonable post.

Social media has let the cat out of the bag. Facebook or my newest favorite, Nextdoor.com, show you how many dumb people we are truly surrounded by. And yes, it's at least 25%, whether it's irredeemable Trump supporters or irredeemable Hillary supporters. Was it a wise campaign statement, probably not (as JSO acknowledged), but it was honest.

None of this means that we should revoke citizenship and voting rights or that they're sub-human, there Captain Hysteria. But since you're such a big advocate of the two party system you should probably realize that the opposing base is worth writing off. Politicians have been doing it forever, many of whom loved America as much as I do. :coffee:

Take a personal inventory. How many right-leaning millennials do you know versus left-leaning?
Working for a major bank in a conservative part of the country, I would think it should be 3:1 in favor of conservatives, but curious as to what you see.

Of the people that I know that are my age and a bit younger, so we'll say 30+: I think it's closer to 2:1. The people in my neighborhood, born and raised in the town, are a bit middle of the road, maybe "centrist-right." Most of them think Trump and the GOP have fucked up and don't trust Democrats 1 bit.

Of my friends that I went to HS and College with: It's probably 3:1 or maybe a bit higher.

I'm not an advocate of the two party system, I'm just a realist in that we will always come back to a duopoly, even if a third party emerges. It's just understanding the system. And it's perfectly fine to write the base of the other party off. Egging them on and inciting them to vote against you while pretending to be above it all, well, that's not a winning strategy most of the time.

I'm thinking it would be a much higher ratio in the opposite direction.

I wouldn't know. There are millions of us and we all know it's the extremist/radicals that get the air time. Not those that are middle of the road.

And i'll remind you, that while I grew up/live in the South, i've always been in and just outside of metro areas where the Democratic Party seems to do better. Charleston has had Democratic mayors from 1877-2016 with the last being mayor for 40 years. And yes, I understand a 19th Century/early 20th Century Democrat is close to the modern day GOP.

Charlotte is equally liberal. Democratic mayors are 1899-1977, 79-87, 2009-Present.

In general, that means rural areas are becoming more conservative, and cities more liberal. Even the reddest states contain liberal cities: Half of the U.S. metro areas with the biggest recent population gains are in the South, and they are Democratic.

You don't have to answer that... its a rhetorical question.
That group you call out didn't really vote CID...
Estimates have ANTIFA followers at somewhere around 50,000 nation wide
That's "followers" actual members is less that 20,000

This ^ the part about the Russian Election meddling that people don't understand
ANTIF and BLM were advertising regularly in Ohio and Pennsylvania
and other similar places where they have zero interest and no knowledge they were even advertising
and no budget to advertise there... Yet advertise like crazy they did (somehow)

and the Deplorable's were frightened and alarmed

Russia successfully gave the appearance of an overwhelming force of ANTIFA and BLM
when in actuality they are smaller than a single chapter of a Regional NRA association

This is how you throw an election in America
This is precisely the argument I make regularly about the klukkers, actual Nazis, and other dwellers in the basket of deplorables

I've never encountered a BLM or ANTIFA person - but the one or two times I criticized their leadership on Facebook the liberals in my friends list went completely batsh!t crazy - and BLM is not a Russian creation.. though since there are klukkers around every corner according to the left, I can see how the BLM menace can easily be inflated and believable on the right

I do know that getting talked down to by mainstream leftys in the TV media, and a general dislike for Hillary have nothing to do with BLM or ANTIFA - and yet those are certainly more significant factors in the election results

I thought it was settled science that we don't know exactly how much it moved the needle... if at all? /quote]

I think that "we don't know" is the correct conclusion but I also think that one reason we don't know is that a lot of things haven't been looked into. In fact, we don't even know if there was not direct hacking to change voting totals because that hasn't been looked into. There hasn't been any auditing. In my opinion we really don't know if votes weren't actually changed. We can say no one has determined that was the case. But that's in the context of a situation in which there hasn't been any systematic effort to determine whether or not that was the case.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

I’d show you my ballot, but with dipshits like you even that wouldn’t be enough.
Guess you’ll just have to take the word of an officer and a gentleman.
Who could doubt the word of an officer and gentleman that recognized the political genius of Sarah Palin long before the rest of us? :coffee:
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.
