It's Official: Roper coming to Montana
From ESPN:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4291816
Former Oregon Ducks quarterback Justin Roper said Saturday he will play this season at Montana.
"This is a school that has great people, that wins and that gives me an opportunity to pursue my NFL potential," Roper, who also considered Towson and UMass, told ESPN's Joe Schad.
Oregon granted Roper his release in late May. Ducks coach Chip Kelly said then that the 6-foot-6, 204-pound Georgia native made the decision after emerging from spring drills behind starter Jeremiah Masoli.
Roper started Oregon's first three games a year ago before suffering a knee injury in overtime at Purdue, forcing him to miss the next four games.
Roper finished last year completing 48 of 91 passes for 610 yards and three touchdowns in six appearances in addition to adding 85 yards and one score on the ground.
After redshirting as a true freshman during the 2006 season, Roper will have two years to complete his final two seasons of eligibility.

Sure we are, that's why you've seen so much activity on this so far. Very, very cautious optimism might explain the feeling better. He's gonna be real upset if he doesn't get the starting job and that may happen. Right now I can't say that I'm overwhelmed but we'll see how this all plays out.NorthernCOU wrote:I bet montana fans are jacking off to this news.

Roper has big time game experience...Selle and Larson don't.

Re: It's Official: Roper coming to Montana
I never would have ever thought I would say this but here goes. We are so deep at RB & QB right now we are gonna have to find ways to get these skill position in for some game time. I have a feeling we will be very balanced if we choose to be this year and have an ability to exploit a teams weakness on defense on a fairly regular basis. God I hope our O line can protect em'.AZGrizFan wrote:Apparently neither will Selle.MrTitleist wrote:Larson won't be a QB next season.![]()

Anyone note that Towson was in the final three? TOWSON?
Rob Ambrose is a hell of a recruiter. What is that light I see?

I definitely noticed that Andy but it was more due to your presence on the boards than anything else. The guy must be doing something right. I watched the Towson/Delaware game a couple of years ago on CN8 and I was very impressed with your QB and that's considering the fact that his counterpart was Flacco in that game.andy7171 wrote:Anyone note that Towson was in the final three? From the grape vine, I heard Ambrose was hell bent on landing Roper or not having him land in another CAA team. I cant blame him for going to Montana.

I'm pretty sure it was 2007. Towson was at home and I'm sure it was Flacco's last year. Towson did not look like some shit team in that game, I was impressed with them.andy7171 wrote:Schaefer was a hell of a QB. Was the game from 06 or 07? No bad at all brother. What's your thinking on it? Good, bad, wait and see?
