None of those were non-0-0 no hitters with a bunt to start the rally. Try to focus.

You said laying down a bunt on a no hitter is a foul. The 0-0 part was extra you threw in as an "especially". I disagree. I think as a professional baseball player, you are trying to wreck a no-no however you can with a hit.93henfan wrote:None of those were non-0-0 no hitters with a bunt to start the rally. BTW, I didn't even realize you were referring to the videos I posted. They were all in reference to the original question in the O's/Twins game that a team should just surrender down 7 in the 9th. Maybe you need to focus.93henfan wrote:None of those were non-0-0 no hitters with a bunt to start the rally. Try to focus.

A) bunting for the first hit in a no-hitter after the 7th inning is a party foul, unless said game is 0-0.
2) Bunting when down 7-0 with the shift on in an attempt to start a rally is REQUIRED. I’d bench the bastard if he hit a weak ground ball to the right side in that scenario...his team needed RUNNERS.
iii) leaning into an inside pitch late in a perfect game to purposely get hit...same as A) above. Dick move.

I seen nothing wrong with the bunt, more players should do it to beat the shift. If enough did that, the shift nonsense would stop.

In this live ball era, I think you can stretch the score to 2-0 in that situation. Get on base and one swing ties it up.AZGrizFan wrote:A) bunting for the first hit in a no-hitter after the 7th inning is a party foul, unless said game is 0-0.

MLB admitted they made mistakes on this replay. Tigers still lose though.CAA Flagship wrote:I was watching that. "The explanation was they didn't really have conclusive evidence that somebody tagged him," Gardenhire said. "Yes, he might have got him. 'We think he got him' is not good enough. In this situation, it has to be definitive. It has to be, "Yeah, I see him (tag) him.' It's not, 'Well, he looked like he touched his sleeve.' That can't happen. It's got to be conclusive. Obviously it didn't happen. There were mistakes made. That's fine. It won't bring anything back."

Twins home opener this week. Picture of Rod Carew statue with a shovel taped to it. Will it be too cold for baseball?

Indeed, Minnesota used to be a virtual paradise on Earth at the end of March/start of April before all this climate change happened.89Hen wrote:Damn climate change.Gil Dobie wrote:Twins home opener this week. Picture of Rod Carew statue with a shovel taped to it. Will it be too cold for baseball?

Last year we had 10 days of 60 degrees, from what I heard. Ice was already off the lake. This year it might be off by fishing opener, first weekend in May.GannonFan wrote:Indeed, Minnesota used to be a virtual paradise on Earth at the end of March/start of April before all this climate change happened.89Hen wrote: Damn climate change.

Nats announcers were actually discussing this last night. They agreed with all of us that the bunt by the O's was absolutely called for because of the shift. They also brought up the Pirates douche bag I posted above as an example of something that's not OK.89Hen wrote:You said laying down a bunt on a no hitter is a foul. Re: 2018 Major League Baseball Season
Twins excuse for being upset, is the Orioles did not hold their runner at first, so that meant to the Twins that Baltimore had given up. Twins runner did not try and steal a base, that would have been cherry picking, therefore the bunt was breaking the un-written message the Orioles sent by not holding the runner at first. I say, just play ball till the end.89Hen wrote:Nats announcers were actually discussing this last night. It's the frickin stat ball BS. Come hell or high water, stat ball is always right, except when breaking the un-written rules.89Hen wrote:Still begs the question, why shift? No pressure on AJ Happ to keep it going.
BTW, love the away fans chanting "overrated" at Harper while he takes them deep.

If they thought the game was over, why the hell were they bothering with the shift?
I'd love to see more batters do that - bunt to third with shift on.

Dbacks rally to tie the Doyers with two outs in the 9th, win in the 15th in the longest game, time-wise in Chase Field history.

Speaking of Nats announcers, FP Santangelo got ran out of Sacramento for lying on air about his PED use. It was fitting he ended up in DC where liars and cheaters thrive.89Hen wrote:Nats announcers were actually discussing this last night. I think Arizona could be a real sleeper this year, I know it's still ridiculously early but they are one of my "favorites" (I use that term lightly being a Rockies fan) to challenge the Dodgers for the West. Should be a fun race.
