The Black Hawks/Blackhawks were the Capitals for most of my childhood and teen years (great regular seasons and no rings) and then really sucked bawls from the mid 90's to mid 2000's (one playoff appearance in 9 seasons and it was a 4-1 series loss). Caps haven't had a stretch that bad since their first 9 seasons in the league.Gil Dobie wrote:Then we both like things that suck89Hen wrote: The Vikings one sucked too.
Point being, it was a great run for the Hawks (one I'd love to have), but that was more of an anomaly.

Follow a team long enough, they eventually win, with some exceptions of course.89Hen wrote:The Black Hawks/Blackhawks were the Capitals for most of my childhood and teen years (great regular seasons and no rings) and then really sucked bawls from the mid 90's to mid 2000's (one playoff appearance in 9 seasons and it was a 4-1 series loss). I'm not sure the run is over. They have cap issues but Toews and Kane have quite a bit left and they have great coaching and a front office with vision and guts.89Hen wrote:The Black Hawks/Blackhawks were the Capitals for most of my childhood and teen years (great regular seasons and no rings) and then really sucked bawls from the mid 90's to mid 2000's (one playoff appearance in 9 seasons and it was a 4-1 series loss). Maybe not, but first round exit last year and on the outside of the playoffs so far this year... second worst record against the west of the teams in the west (only Phoenix worse) so they better make some hay with three of the next four against the east and the other begin Phoenix. Caps/Hawks tonight on Wednesday Night Rivalry at 8pm EST.UNI88 wrote:I'm not sure the run is over. 1 game means that they're finished? Management won't ever be able to put players around Toews and Kane that Q can coach to another title?89Hen wrote:So yeah. Hawks are done. Islanders look to be moving back to Long Island. That takes them off the market for relocation for quite a while.

On Tuesday, sources confirmed to Newsday‘s Jim Baumbach that the Islanders have emerged victorious in the Belmont Park sweepstakes, beating out New York City FC for the chance to redevelop the area and build a new arena.
New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo is expected to finalize the news at a press conference Wednesday.
The Islanders will build an 18,000-seat, year-round stadium that will host 150 events annually, as per details released by Newsday’s Baumbach. The club also plans on constructing a hotel with 200 to 250 rooms, a 10,000-foot “innovation center” and a 435,000-square foot retail complex.

Hey, if that planned retail complex ends up being something like a mall, can we invite the Hartford Whalers back to play there?89Hen wrote:Islanders look to be moving back to Long Island. That takes them off the market for relocation for quite a while.

BTW, the Caps practice facility (a very nice one) is on the 7th floor of a mall/condo building.

Unfortunately, the wrong direction. Somebody stick a fork in them already.
I went to the game last night with my nephew. For a seven pm start time, took over an hour to get there from south Scottsdale (I live two blocks from where the arena SHOULD have been built). Weeknight games are hard to get too in the current location.
How much are they paying Bettman? This demands an investigation.
https://nhl.nbcsports.com/2022/02/10/co ... ate-arena/That rather grim Arizona Coyotes/Arizona State University arena plan looks to be official. The Coyotes announced a plan to play home games at ASU’s arena the next three seasons (2022-23 through 2024-25), with the option for the 2025-26 season.
In the official Coyotes release, there’s no mention of expected hockey attendance for NHL games at ASU’s arena. That likely isn’t an accident. In Craig Morgan’s original news about a Coyotes – ASU arena plan, one capacity estimate was around 5,000 fans. Yet, sources wondered to Elliotte Friedman that the capacity could be closer to 3,200.

The approval from the NHL will be contingent on the Coyotes having a permanent arena plan in place. No different than the Chargers playing at a smaller stadium until SOFI was finished.89Hen wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 8:02 amThis didn't age well.dbackjon wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2015 9:37 am

Trucks are stuck in a convoy, duh.
Because before the previous owners stupidly decided to move to Glendale away from the season ticket base, hockey was doing well. It will do well with a Tempe Arena.
