Based on their stats, Nicholls is a team that just doesn't belong here. The only things really going for them are that they're at home, and that South Dakota has lost 4 of 5 (and 3 straight) coming in. The Coyotes' biggest weakness is probably their secondary (especially after the rape arrests), but the Colonels aren't good enough throwing the ball to really take advantage. SoDak should survive and face a much better Southland team next week.
Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:
Nicholls State did play competitively against Texas A&M.
Otherwise, being a McNeese fan lamenting the playoff snub, the thing I was thinking about the whole time was how much better McNeese looked physically and athletically against Nicholls play by play than South Dakota did. Thought again about how they REALLY screwed up in somehow losing that game. They'd have potentially had big problems against a team like South Dakota because they've tended to give up big plays in the passing game. In fact big plays given up in the passing game was a huge factor in both of their losses. But they are just a lot better athletically and physically than Nicholls State and it's a real shame that them screwing up like they did in that opening game meant the third team from the Southland was Nicholls state.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star? Deep Purple: No One Came
Isn't that against the rules now? Or is that just in the bogus Goodell-led NFL?
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

McNeese beats Nicholls and no bitching about playoff snub.
