This one is a quandary for libs. They can't do much with it because it doesn't fit their narrative:

1. Crime committed by prohibited owner/purchaser (dishonorable discharge from US military; also domestic abuser). This shows that more stringent gun laws are easily circumvented by criminals.
2. Crime spree ended by legal CCW carrier. This shows that good guys with guns do stop bad guys with guns.
3. If CCW wasn't prohibited in churches, this may have been stopped even sooner.

In addition, this was committed in a red state and against Christian, conservative, white people. This doesn't push any hot buttons for liberals. They can't play identity politics very well with it. They'd prefer that blacks, gays, etc be targeted so they can whip up more populist leftist frenzy.

Poor libs, first the worst mass shooting victimizes country music fans, then the follow-up victimizes Southern Baptists.

Overheard in the Feinstein offices: "Quick, order up another black church shooting and a gay nightclub massacre! We're losing the initiative!!"

I think you start with a national gun registry to start. We all have to register our cars & pay insurance right, why should guns be any different. Cigarettes & alcohol have "sin taxes", add guns to it as well. Nobody knows where all the guns in this country are, and if you want to have a gun (which I am not opposed too), then you need to be responsible for the guns you own as well. If you're going to sell your gun it should be similar to exchanging the title on a car. Guns are too easy to get and it's an issue no one wants to confront, until it hits too close to home. Do you have to wait until someone in your family gets killed by gun violence until it matters to you? Or should we wait a week to a month & Spandos will tell us it's all a hoax.

I'm not saying I have all the answers, but I am saying that until you start having a conversation about the problem it's only going to get worse. 89, you and 93 or anyone that was living in the DC Beltway area a decade or so ago should have more appreciation for this when the sniper was shooting random people for what a few weeks....

Your proposal wouldn't have prevented or even slowed down the DC sniper. MOF, it probably wouldn't have impacted any of these shootings.

There has been a conversation on this subject ongoing since the NFA was passed in 1934...and for the most part, the conversation has been “we need more restrictions!!!”...and until recently, that has been the winning side...

Well, gun owners finally grew some balls and saw that the eventual end game with this “conversation” is total banning of guns...

You say guns should be registered like cars...where in the Constitution is car ownership mentioned...guns, on the other hand, have the Second Amendment...

Each of your mentioned ideas have either been tried, and rejected...or simply put a burden on law abiding citizens...

Why do you need to know who owns guns??? In the wrong hands, that information will lead to confiscation...and we know that because it has happened on small scales in this country (California) and in countries where the leadership changed and the new leaders wanted to consolidate power...

Yes, because criminals love sign up for registries. Let's wait to learn how this guy acquired a weapon before we start talking about penalizing law-abiding citizens.

Another point...you want to compare guns to cars...

Are you willing to treat them equally? If not, why not? I have a Texas driver’s license, and can drive anywhere in the United States... I have a Texas LTC (License to Carry) but I can’t carry a weapon in 12 states...

Also, I can sell a car without having to register it...only if you put it on the road does it need registration and insurance...why do I need to go through a gun registration if the gun is for home defense use???

Your analogy really doesn’t work, no matter how hard you try to rationalize it...

We will need bi-partisan support to extend Full Faith and Credit to guns. I'm sure Congress will get right on that.

So, i've read this fat fuck bought the gun at a store. I wonder where the process broke down. This guy should've been flagged due to his dishonorable discharge. Let's drill down into how a gun got into his hands and fix that problem...instead of blaming the gun.

I think this might be the problem. It has been reported that he got a Bad Conduct Discharge which is different from a Dishonorable Discharge. It has also been reported that he can purchase a gun with a Bad Conduct but not a Dishonorable. We'll probably need another 24 hours for the media to get this straight, but that is what is being reported.

True, but federal law also prevents a wife beater from owning/possessing a weapon, and that’s what his BCD was for...

Someone most likely did not do their job and did not enter him into the NICS system...either the Air Force or New Mexico where the crime happened...
