7 dead as truck runs over cyclists in NYC

At least seven people are dead and others injured after a truck driver made a "purposeful turn" onto a jogging and biking path in lower Manhattan in New York City, police said. The sprawling crime scene runs about 10 blocks along the West Side Highway, a few blocks away from One World Trade Center.

The suspect is in custody, police said.

The incident is being investigated as a possible terrorist attack, a source confirmed to ABC News.

Yesterday I parked my car at the local mall. I left it alone and went about my business.

While I was gone, hundreds more cars had parked in the lot, and hundreds more people had walked by my car. Children in Halloween costumes, couples, adults of all races and cultures.

After a few hours, I went back to my car. It had not moved and It had not killed anyone in spite of many opportunities that had been presented. The engine was even cold.

Can you imagine how surprised I was with all the hype about how dangerous Fully Automatic Vehicles are and how they kill people? Either the media is wrong and the killing is by people misusing Fully Automatic Vehicles or I'm in possession of the laziest car in the world. So now I'm off to check on my spoons, because I hear they make people fat.

Freaky. My wife, two boys (BOYS) and I walked that entire walk/bike way a few weekends ago. That area of NYC is one of my favorites.

Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, 29, told police he is pleased with his actions and is unapologetic for the attack, which killed 8 people and injured at least 13. Sources tell CBS News he made "no bones" about what he did.

The owner of WBOC was killed riding his bike outside Milford a couple of weeks ago. Sad, but stupid and avoidable. Don’t ride your bike where 3,000 lb+ vehicles are doing 25+ mph. You aren’t special.

The road is for cars. If you want to ride a bike, find a dedicated trail or path. If you must use a road, make sure it’s one with a wide shoulder and get all the way to the fucking right. A car should never have to slow down for a bike. We don’t pay billions on roads for bikes. I’m with the fine people of Montgomery County MD!
