Post by Mvemjsunpx »

Big Sky

UND 48-21 PORTST
CP 28-31 UCD
UMT 27-41 WEB
SAC 17-37 NAU
IDST 14-28 MTST
SUU 27-14 NOCO

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 13-21

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 9-6

Best Performance: Weber St. 41, (#24) Montana 27 - Weber's offense did absolutely nothing in the second half, but their 5-0 turnover advantage for the game made that unimportant.

Worst Performance: Portland St. 21, North Dakota 48 - The spiraling Viks take a 14-0 lead, then proceed to piss down their legs for the remaining 47 minutes.

Most Surprising Result: North Dakota 48, Portland St. 21 - It's been a trying year for the Fighting Hawks, but their 48 points here—and earlier against Northern Colorado—is more than they scored in any game over the previous 3 seasons.

Southland

NWST 10-7 HBU
SFA 34-7 LAM
NICH 38-31 UIW
MCNSE 17-47 UCA
SHSU 33-23 SELU

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 8-14

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 6-4

Best Performance: (#4) Central Arkansas 47, (#20) McNeese St. 17 - Hayden Hildebrand's arm doesn't even get any exercise as he throws for 250 yards and 4 TDs on just 16 attempts.

Worst Performance: Lamar 7, Stephen F. Austin 34 - The reverse of the Weber/Montana game: Lamar forces 5 turnovers, but loses yardage 571-225.

Most Surprising Result: (#20) McNeese St. 17, (#4) Central Arkansas 47 - The Cowboys still figure to make the playoffs as long as they avoid a total collapse, but I'm not sure they really deserve to.

Missouri Valley

UNI 14-30 NDSU
SIU 0-42 SDK
INST 20-59 MIZST
SDKST 52-24 WIU
ILST 35-0 YSU

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 20-10

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 18-4

Best Performance: (#11) South Dakota St. 52, (#12) Western Illinois 24 - Taryn Christion throws for 386 yards and 5 touchdowns in a surprising Jackrabbit rout.

Worst Performance: Indiana St. 20, Missouri St. 59 - Sycamores allow 624 yards to a fellow bottom-dweller.

Most Surprising Result: (#12) Western Illinois 24, (#11) South Dakota St. 52 - It seems like we're watching a second-consecutive Leatherneck swoon in progress.

OVC

SEMO 7-23 JAXST
EKU 26-13 MUR
TSU 26-30 TTU
EIU 10-27 UTM
AP 33-73 UCF

  • NConf Record: 0-1
    Overall: 10-18

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 6-7

Best Performance: Tennessee-Martin 27, Eastern Illinois 10 - Eastern Illinois did largely give the Skyhawks the game with 5 turnovers, but it's still a win over one of the better teams in the Ohio Valley.

Worst Performance: Tennessee St. 26, Tennessee Tech 30 - Just as the Tigers seemed to be regrouping, they go and lose to the winless Golden Eagles.

Most Surprising Result: Tennessee St. 26, Tennessee Tech 30 - Under Rod Reed, TSU is 25-10 in August/September compared to just 22-31 after September.

Pioneer League

MHEAD 32-63 VALPO
DVDSN 12-17 DRAKE
BUT 22-27 DAY
JU 54-48 CAMP (3OT)
USD 48-7 STET

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 13-19

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 3-18

Best Performance: Jacksonville 54, Campbell 48 (3OT) - The Dolphins run the ball 77 times for 396 yards and 6 touchdowns in a wild win.

Worst Performance: Morehead St. 32, Valparaiso 63 - The Eagles commit 6 turnovers and allow 597 yards as they officially replace Valpo as a Pioneer League doormat.

Most Surprising Result: Campbell 48, Jacksonville 54 (3OT) - Campbell's recent collapse means Drake is now the last remaining hope to dethrone San Diego.

Tomorrow: the rest of the playoff conferences.

Even if they finish 9-2 I don't think they will unless Nicholls State loses at least one. And Nicholls State might have to lose two because one of their losses is a competitive loss to Texas A&M.

I said at the beginning that losing to Nicholls State in a game they physically dominated really put them in bad position due to how weak their schedule is.

I can't see more than 3 from the Southland getting in and if it comes down to between McNeese and Nicholls State Nicholls State has the head to head.

The sad thing is that in both losses the opponent couldn't move the ball consistently against McNeese but got big plays in the passing game. 2 long TD passes for Nicholls State and 3 for Central Arkansas. Like I wrote in another thread Central Arkansas got 157 yards on three long TD passes and just 166 on their other 48 plays. They couldn't run the ball. 75 yards on 35 attempts. They only had 11 first downs.

Add a scoop and score for a defensive touchdown and a blocked punt returned for another touchdown and you get the blowout. VERY disappointing because it was obvious that Central Arkansas was a beatable team from McNeese's standpoint. A beatable team that just beat you 47-17.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Most Surprising Result: (#9) Samford 21, Tennessee-Chattanooga 23 - It wasn't quite as bad as last year's ETSU debacle, but it was still another stunning upset loss for Samford.

You nailed it. JMU defense with 9 starters back + 3 P5 transfers, has been has been downright nasty. UNH came into the game averaging 30 points & 423 yards (284 passing/139 rushing) of offense. JMU held them to 193 yard offense (166 passing/27 rushing). Got 3 turnovers & a defensive TD for the 4th straight game. Last 4 games the starting defense has yield only 2 TDs and gotten 15 turnovers/4 defensive TDs. National defensive rankings:
Total Defense:
#1 NDSU
#2 JMU
Scoring defense:
#1 JMU
#2 NDSU

Yep, the JMU offense has been average at best in CAA play. Lost 6 starters from last year's teams 3 and more for the season going back to the summer Have had a # of key guys miss 1 to 4 games due to injury, illness, or suspension. OL has struggled . Off last years Lost 3 senior starters, including an AA and an All CAA. 2 more lost for the season - a would be starter in Aug and an OG who started the 1st 4 games. Last weekend the 1st half vs UNH the pre season AA LT went down. Tried to come back second half for 1 series. Status next week uncertain.
JMU Football:
4 Years FBS: 40-11 (.784). Highest winning percentage & least losses of all of G5 2022-2025.
