ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Police say 143 people were arrested following a protest that shut down a busy highway near downtown St. Louis.

The department on Wednesday did not say what charges those arrested during Tuesday night’s protest will face, but a spokeswoman for the Circuit Attorney’s office says they likely will face charges in municipal court.

Protesters gathered Tuesday and marched to Interstate 64, where some of them walked onto the roadway and blocked traffic for several minutes. Police arrested protesters after they left the highway.

Demonstrators have been protesting since mid-September over the acquittal of a white former police officer, Jason Stockley, in the 2011 killing of a black drug suspect, Anthony Lamar Smith.

St. Louis owes police $2.9 million in overtime for working recent protests
ST. LOUIS – The City of St. Louis is feeling the financial effect of the ongoing protests in the wake of the Jason Stockley decision.

Mayor Lyda Krewson and representatives for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department estimate they owe officers $2.9 million in overtime pay for working protests.

“Three million is a lot of money as you know,” Krewson said. “Certainly we have to figure out where to take that from.”

That total is just for the first 10 days—September 15-25—following the Stockley ruling.

Whelp...
I feel like last night was an episode of myth busters (CS Edition)
Turns out Flaggy isn't an asshole at all (sadly disappointing really)
He's just a nice man with a good sense of humor a couple of kids trapped in the mid-west
Dreaming of his childhood days on the Jersey shore

If this kind of thing gets out the U.S. News outlets will be destroyed
