Tigers trade JD Martinez to the D'Backs for three infield prospects. Seems like they could have gotten more, but time will tell. Martinez should give Arizona a nice offensive boost this season, and sign a fat contract somewhere in the off season.

Trout is back and homered for the 2nd straight game....

Tigers have been letting championship players go for several years now, instead of paying them.AshevilleApp wrote:Tigers trade JD Martinez to the D'Backs for three infield prospects. Nats have a nationally televised game and come out with Goodwin, Raburn, Lind, Drew and Heisey. None were day one starters, and quite honestly none were even day one backups.

Angelos gives O's permission to sell. Team responds with 4 game sweep of Rangers! Nice!

I'd hate to see him leave, but if they get a decent return for him it may be worth it. Assuming of course that they don't have to eat much of his remaining contract.Gil Dobie wrote:Now I'm hearing rumors of Verlander to the Astros with Gray from Oakland.

The only thing I want to hear about Verlander is that he writes a big check to Old Dominion.Gil Dobie wrote:Now I'm hearing rumors of Verlander to the Astros with Gray from Oakland.

Justin Verlander has a shutout through six innings today, in what could be his last game as a Tiger. Or not.

The Tigers trade reliever Justin Wilson and backup catcher Alex Avila to the Cubs for two infield prospects. Good.

Mariners have the best record in the AL since the AS break. Now in a dead heat with the Royals and Rays for the second wild card spot.

He already missed two months, and has been mediocre at best when healthy. Paxton had been the ace this season. Eat a dick.CAA Flagship wrote:And no Felix. Re: 2017 MLB Thread
The Dodgers and Nats are 1st and 2nd in the NL. Dodgers have 12 players on the DL and Nats 11. Compare that with the Cubs (1 10 day), Brewers (3), Rockies (3). Nats have lost three starters who play big roles and are putting out a lineup of journeymen and are still getting it done. IF Turner, Taylor and Werth come back and play well, with the addition of the three relievers, this could be a crazy good team.
Injuries
Adam Eaton, CF - out for season
Michael Taylor, backup CF - out since July 7
Jayson Werth, LF - out since June 3
Trea Turner, SS - out since June 30
Joe Ross, SP - out for season
Shawn Kelley, RP - out since June 18
Koda Glover, RP - out since July 17
10 day DL: Stephen Strasburg, Stephen Drew, Enny Romero, Ryan Raburn

Unless anything changes I still see the Nats losing in the first round of the playoffs. Like they also do.

How's that? Just because of history? They are better than the Cubs or Brewers and will have home field. Cubs are 8-15 vs the other current NL playoff teams this year, Brewers are 11-16. And all of a sudden Nats bullpen >>> Cubs bullpen. Nats just beat Lester with a seven pitcher platoon because Scherzer was being held out and Gio was on paternity leave.GannonFan wrote:Unless anything changes I still see the Nats losing in the first round of the playoffs. Re: 2017 MLB Thread
History's funny that way. The Nats have been better than a lot of teams before and still found ways to lose. To quote "The Natural", "losing is a disease". Heck, I'm a Phillies fan and I recognize that.89Hen wrote:How's that? Just because of history? They are better than the Cubs or Brewers and will have home field. What really matters is how the teams are playing late September/ early October. Hot teams tend to win in the playoffs. Cubs being 8-15 at this point, in early August, against current NL playoff teams will matter little if they finish the season strong. And Lester looked pretty good and left that game with a lead as I remember (was actually in Wrigley for that one).

Don't you find that at least moderately ironic considering you're talking about the Cubs?GannonFan wrote:History's funny that way.
