After the sweep of the Giants today, Rockies have best record in NL, they are for real this year.

1st time since divisional play started, 3 teams over .620 on Fathers Day. All 3 could win 100.

Toms River, NJ native Mark Leiter, Jr picked up the win last night for the Phillies in his first career start.
His father played 11 seasons in MLB and his uncle Al played 19 seasons.

About time someone beat D backs. Rockies having a bad last few days. At this point I see no one beating Dodgers, but Rockies and D backs have inside track on wild cards, unless they totally crater.

Re: 2017 MLB Thread
Dodgers and Astros are legit.
What happened to the Rockies?
The Brewers better pick it up a bit, just so they can keep the Cubs outta the playoffs (oh, and see above about the Rockies, hopefully they can keep the last wild card away from the Cubs)
The Yankees are turning out to be the team we all hoped they would be, at least for this season. If they get some pitching, they are going to be a helluva team for years to come. Dammit.
Nats could be legit as well, except they have one of the worst bullpens. Hopefully they get some bullpen help in the next few weeks.
Oh, speaking of worst bullpens, the Mets are officially Dumpster Fires (yeah, yeah yeah and so are the San Fran Giants. Nothing wrong with having two dumpster fires in the NL)

No division this year, Dodgers are rolling. If they can regroup, the wild card is still attainable.

Re: 2017 MLB Thread
DBacks are living proof of why I hate the "average runs per game" stat. They win 16-5, 11-1, 10-3, then lose 1-0, 2-1 and 2-1. But they averaged 6+ runs per game during that stretch.Jjoey52 wrote:89Hen wrote: Apparently not.

Astros - are they for real? Can't be a fluke for this long but I still just have a feeling they won't make the CS let alone the WS.
Nats - Has to be the worst bullpen on one of the best batting and starting pitching teams ever. Nats own 1-2-3 in NL batting average and Scherzer and Stras are pitching great. Even with a short rotation and sending a couple starters to the pen in the playoffs, no lead is safe and therefore will once again have an early exit.
Dodgers - Unless Kershaw gets hurt, this team should easily win the pennant and unless the Astros prove me wrong, it's the Dodgers year.

Strasburg got killed by the Braves last outing.
Re: 2017 MLB Thread
A lot is going to depend on what happens between now and July 31. A lot of teams need help: Nats and Rocks need bullpen, Houston could use a starter, Dodgers just need Kershaw to stay healthy and maybe another starter. Very interesting few weeks ahead.

I don't want to like Aaron Judge simply because of who he plays for. But from all accounts that I have heard, he is a pretty stand-up guy. I actually enjoy watching him play. In the short line of Yankees recently that other players in the league respect..Jeter, O'neill, Rivera....and that about sums it up.

I hope his swing is all fucked up after winning the homerun derby!

Hopefully the Yanks will pull a Mets on him and somehow get him injured.

Re: 2017 MLB Thread
Astros have been the talk of MLB the last couple years. They have been doing a great job in the draft, and have a great young group of players. Twins are starting to show along the same lines with their youth. They just don't have the pitching yet.89Hen wrote:Astros - are they for real? No they haven't.
They've been talked about for sure, but they have not been THE talk.
