I think he won manager of the year the last year he was in the NL - and then got fired by the Marlins.

He's the first manager since fucking forever to lose 7 straight against the Cox.
Sox on longest win streak (9) against Yanks since 1912.

Just got two tix to the July 3rd game against the Jays.
1st row of the Jim Beam Suite. $87 each on stubhub. Face value is $125.
1pm games scare people away.

Taking the wife so I figured I'd up the ante a little bit. Jim Beam suite has separate bathrooms, bar, and food for the 1300 seats in the suite. Also has bigger seats and is behind homeplate, albeit in the 3rd level.

The Yankees might want to consider puting that Red Sox jersey back where they found it. Removing it hasn't had the desired effect.

I just wish I was in NYC this weekend. My sister is going to the Saturday game against the Mets. Her friend's family has season tickets on field level, just a bit to the right of the Yanks dugout, 8 rows up. Her and her friend are going but there's 2 more open seats.

Here's the view from their seats when I was there. Her friend told us the seat details before the game and we went to them.

Cheer up WIllie. That is why they play several hundred, if not thousands, of games each year causing the season to last for months and months on end.

Those seats are great and mucho dinero. They were the seats that used to be 3rd row behind the tarp at the old Yankee Stadium. They all got bumped up behind the Legends seats now.

I think it's ultimately deeper than the Sox pitching, but I never said anything about the Yankees pitching.

I just know from recent experience that old pitching just doesn't get you to finish line. I thought the Sox were likely to make a huge effort to land Jake Peavy, but I see this morning he's out from 4 to 12 weeks.

Where's your quality after Beckett and Lester? There's a huge drop off after that to Dice-K, and then the back end of the rotation has been pieced together.

The Sox need another quality starter to make a serious run this year. Sabathia, Burnett, Pettitte and Chamberlain seems better to than Beckett, Lester, Dice-K, and Wakefield/Penny.

And Wang may just return to quality starter status at some point.

The Yankees pitching has not pitched up to expectations yet, but their solutions are in place. They just need to do their jobs. I think the Sox need another to guy to back Beckett/Lester. It's a 162-game season, and Penny, Wakefield, and Smoltz are going to be exposed. :twocents:

Which one of these guys has been battle tested? This is like me adding Ian Kennedy and Philip Hughes to the list. (And out of all these guys, the guy who is closest to be a regular consistent starter is Hughes: 37 Ks in 39 innings, with only 7 BBs this year shows he is throwing big league stuff. Masterson has already walked 18 in 52 innings).

you funny man.

After a couple tough outings to start the season Beckett has been great... Over his last 7 starts he has gone 47.2 innings allowing just 9 earned runs for an ERA of 1.70 striking out 45.

After a similar tough start for Lester he also has been solid lately with a 2.36 ERA over his last 5 starts striking out 42 in 34.1 innings.

It's also worth noting that of the regular starters for both teams (mimus Wang, Hughes, Matsuzaka and Masterson who havent pitched regualry in the rotation all season) each Boston starter has more quality starts to every Yankee starter.

Beckett 9/12
Wakefield 8/12
Lester 7/12
Penny 7/12

Sabathia 6/13
Burnett 6/12
Pettite 6/12
Chamberlain 6/12

Then of course theres that little bit about Boston being 8-0 against that superior rotation from New York.

your kidding right?

Masterson 52.1 innings 44k 18 bb 3.96 era
Hughes 39.1 innings 37k 17 bb 5.26 era

Not sure where your stats came from but they are wrong. Masterson has a lower ERA and far few bb/IP

But also remember, Masterson was never billed as anything more then a back of the rotation guy... Hughes is the Franchise.... suppose to be a top of the rotation guy.

You're right on the BBs. I grabbed Hughes' numbers from a paper this morning and there was a typo. They cut off the "1" in front of the "7."

Still, Hughes is far better than Masterson. Throw out the 8 runs he gave up in Baltimore in 1.2 innings, and his overall numbers are pretty strong. You would trade Masterson for Hughes in a heartbeat, admit it.

And while you are at it, admit that the Sox are going to try hard to find another front of the rotation guy for the Dog Days of summer.

I never understand why Sox fans are proud of that photo. A guy wearing a mask and throwing a glove into an unarmed man's face? If you want to fight, drop the glove, take off the mask, and fight like a man.

I said Beckett and Lester are great starters, and I said the Yankee pitching has not been where it should be.

Take a look at your lists. Do Wakefield and Penny make the Yankees' rotation?

My points are simply that the Yankee pitchers are capable of pitching much better, and that the Yankees' solutions are in place. They just need to do their jobs. It's a 162-game season and usually, after 162 games, you are usually what the back of your baseball card says you are. So I think its reasonable to believe that Sabathia and Burnett have a lot of good starts in front of them.

I think the overall quality of the Sox starters drops off after Beckett and Lester and they need to lengthen that rotation if they intend to win the AL East. They should grab a 2-3 guy, an move Dice-K to 4.
