They are holding fast to the old ways and not clearly ready to live in the present. Regardless of what you think of Pelosi, good or bad, it's flat out amazing that she continues to hold sway in the House among Democrats considering that she's been the Speaker or Minority Leader during a time of monumental shift in power from the Dems to the GOP. She's the political equivalent of a Cleveland Browns QB, yet rather than trying something new the Dems just keep sticking her in there and hoping for a better result. There is something to be said about the echo chamber of a party that, without doing the math, has such a large number of Congressmen from just three deeply blue states (CA, NY, and MA).

Really? And what is your basis for saying that? What is your basis for saying that, for instance, some key county was flipped because of the economy rather than because of the immigration issue or the increased support for the Republican candidate among White Evangelical Christians.

"Key county" doesn't even matter anyway. What matters is how people voted by State. And within States people who said the economy was the most important issue voted for Clinton. Meanwhile people who were into the illegal immigration issue and White Evangelical Christians voted overwhelmingly for Trump.

Don't tell me about exit polls. You have no idea where they were taken, and if they were factual.
They could have been taken mostly in urban precincts. Flawed stats.

Nice try, but it doesn't do it. Exit polling gives you direct insight into why people voted the way they did and it shows that this was clearly not about the economy.

For some reason there seems to be a desire to say it was about the economy. And it wasn't.

I don't know why people would want to dismiss what people actually tell them when they ask them why they voted the way they did.
Ever read the old censuses while doing some genealogy? People lie to census takers all the time, why wouldn't they lie to pollsters?

It was pretty well documented too that there was a lot of Trump voter-shaming going on in the country to where Trump voters simply wouldn't mention who they were voting for due to the irrational hate coming from the left.

My sister hasn't really talked to me much for the last six months or so. She'll probably get over it when we next elect somebody other than a straight, white, male.

Yup. People lie. Immediately following the election there were many people calling into Rush, Hannity, the Liberal talk show in DC ( it's on iHeartRadio) and almost all of them that was from Pennsylvania or some other rust state said they intentionally lied to pollsters about their decision to vote for Clinton. They lied to their friends and family. Life long democrats voted for Trump. That's a scientific fact.

Michael Barone claims that a combination of trade and immigration policies, Hillary's corruption, and voter "dovishness" worked in Trump's favor in PA, MI, and WI. Seems accurate to me.

"Look, I had some serious beefs with Trump during the primaries, and I committed to vote for him only because the choice was either him or Harpy O’Smarmalot, and I couldn’t listen to that shrill harridan yapping at me for four years while she turned America into Venezuela North. But I have to hand it to The Donald. He’s doing great so far, and it’s just killing the liberals. Which makes it even greater.

Trump is trolling them with competence.

Transition chaos? Oh please. The new crew is functioning remarkably well, despite the media spazzathon. And it’s always fun to get an organizational critique from the apoplectic liberal media whineatariat, whose sole organizational experience consists of gathering up the usual scruff-bearded femboys and scruff-bearded womyn and marching over to the dean’s office to demand that the campus wrestling team stop liking girls.

Jeff Sessions? Great choice – honest, smart, and he has the DOJ experience to know where the shredders are shredding. The leftists aren’t upset because he doesn’t know how to be a great AG; they are terrified because he does.

Gee, how does the lefty media react? Surprise: “RACIST!” They know it’s a damn lie, but they think people are still stupid enough to believe it. So this pick is itself another troll – this one reinforcing that the media is a pack of lying weasels. Right about now, no one would actually believe a media racism accusation unless the accused showed up in a white robe carrying a dog-eared copy of “The Collected Racial Musings of Kleagle/Democrat Senate Majority Leader Robert Byrd.”'

That's not a "scientific fact" at all. You're talking about people calling into radio talk shows.

You guys are amazing. It's very unlikely that people lied to exit polling staff about things like what they considered to be the most important issue facing the country.

Right. Someone is asked what they think the most important issue facing the country is and they think, "I'm going to say it's illegal immigration instead of saying it's the economy because I want to fool these pollsters into thinking I care most about illegal immigration when what I REALLY care about is the economy!"

Again: It wasn't about the economy. It was about the kinds of social issues White Evangelical Christians care about, illegal immigration, and to some extent terrorism.

You guys dismiss exit polling but want to go with stuff like people calling radio talk shows and making claims. Just incredible.

BTW I'll go ahead and mention that another thing the exit polling shows is that the Clinton e mail server thing was huge. That really hurt her. 63% of voters said that bothered them and among those Trump won by 69% to 24%.

I don't know why so many people want to engender this myth about it being about the economy when that is so obviously not the case.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
