Well, she is the go to Asian woman pick for the GOP. Who else would fit that mold?

Interesting pattern, though. In the press, whenever Trump picks someone from the Washington establishment they get up in arms that it's not really the "draining of the swamp" that was promised. When Trump reaches for someone (like that Breitbart guy), though, the press says the person is unfit to serve in a government. If he's not allowed to pick an establishment person, nor an outsider, then I'm not sure who he goes with. But I guess that's the point.

This pretty much sums of the press on the whole cabinet selections...

...while ignoring the bigger and much more significant elephant in the room...Trump's failure to place his business holdings into a blind trust and eliminate any (overt) conflict of interest issues.

I think the press has been hammering that pretty hard. Trump should do the right thing and wall off his holdings. There will be plenty of time for the new, improved reality show later.

Saw a headline saying Petreaus (sp?) is in the running for SOS. Please God I hope Trump does it. I mean giving the seat to a person who leaked sensitive info after railing against hilldog for doing the same thing would push Trumps troll status to a 15. The internet meltdown and ensuing entertainment alone would be worth it.

Please Trump, pick Petreaus.

Interesting tidbit last night. Was listening to NPR on the way home and they had a law professor on who was going on about how easy it would be to manipulate election results - machines can have their software hacked and you would have a hard time proving that it was - and also that, in many cases with machines, there is no hard copy evidence of the vote. So if you wanted to do a recount, or even if you wanted to investigate if there was any fraud, there would be nothing to audit it against so you couldn't even tell if there was any shenanigans or not.

Now, this was interesting for two reasons. One, NPR couldn't have tried harder in the leadup to the election, when Clinton seem assured of victory and when Trump was saying that there could be voter fraud, that there was no way there had ever been or ever could be significant or even limited voter fraud in America. They had experts lined up one after another saying that there had never been proof of voter fraud in America and that it couldn't happen and that Trump was just being a pre-sore loser. Who knew that they had a whole host of experts at the ready to say just the opposite now?

Second, and this seems logical, in cases where we just use machines (I know in PA and NJ we do), there is no way to audit an election and say whether it was tampered with or not. There is no paper copy of each vote so when you walk out of the booth after pressing "vote" there's no way to make sure it was counted correctly. So if a recount would happen, as Stein's pushing for in PA, what would that even look like? The only thing we have is the tabulation from the voting machines - add them up and that's it. Whether they properly recorded votes correctly? Who knows? If you had a corresponding paper copy that you could look over and confirm is what you voted, and that was dropped off at a box before leaving the voting place, that would at least give another level of comfort that the voting was correct. I'm not expandos by any means, but just as a logical participant in the voting process, this just seems amazingly ripe for something to not work correctly. And despite the claims of many supposed experts that things can't go wrong, it doesn't seem, at least in cases like that, that you can prove that one way or the other.

Yep, Delaware is same as PA and NJ.

Virginia had it right when I lived there, at least in Stafford County. You fill out a scan-tron ballet there, and it's in permanent marker, so people can't do any erasing after the fact. It has your name and votes on it, clear as can be.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like it's too difficult to come up with a system that would at least give you the ability to verify the vote, just odd that neither side seems willing to push for every state to do so. Machine-only voting, with no corresponding hard copy of the vote, is just wishful hoping that things are okay. It's about equivalent to crossing your fingers.

I was once a proponent of online voting. But that was about 15 years ago when I was naive about the capabilities of hackers - and Russian and China weren't players yet.

Isn't it a county by county thing when it comes to vote tallying methods? I didn't think that an entire state does it the same way.

At my site here in the Heartland, we got to choose either electronic or paper/scan. I chose paper/scan and it was a slower process and the line was longer, but it felt "safer" to use that method.

Regarding recounts, the fact that PA, OH, WI, IA, and MI all went red, makes me think that the fraud was either very widespread, or it didn't happen.

I think it is county by county, but I think most counties in PA all work the same.

As for fraud, I think it's naïve to think it doesn't happen if there's no mechanism in place to 1) stop it or 2) detect it. It's like having a room in your house where you have a lot of valuable things, but you don't have an accurate count of what's in there, and then leaving your house wide open everyday when you go to work. Sure, it's possible no one will go in and steal stuff from that room, but even if they did you'd never know that they did or the extent of what they stole.

Philadelphia

Day after election:

Apparent white supremacist goes on rampage spray-painting racist hate speech all over cars and houses.
Racist and pro-Trump graffiti appears in South Philly following election
Post-Election Racism

South Philadelphia residents awoke Wednesday to find racist and pro-Trump graffiti spray painted on their storefronts, cars, and homes.

Police said officers responded to reports of vandalism to a house and three cars on the 900 block of South Sixth Street in the Bella Vista section around 8:30 a.m.

One of the damaged cars was a white SUV that had "Trump Rules" and "Black Bitch" spray-painted across it in large black letters.
